Single Serve Purple Lemonade
Purple Lemonade
This is the most refreshing and pretty drink! With the weather getting nicer I couldn’t help but think of this recipe.
Delicious homemade single serve lemonade that is just perfection but we’re making it with a twist. We’re adding butterfly pea tea to turn it purple! To make this you’ll need butterfly pea tea. You can buy a powder form or dried flower form. Just make how the package tells you and if you don’t want to get butterfly pea tea just replace with water. If using water it will not turn purple but you’ll still have a delicious lemonade! If you don’t have honey syrup you can make one easily with equal parts honey and water. I’m working getting a recipe out for this soon!
Ingredients
1/2 lemon
1-2 tbsp honey syrup
1-1 1/2 cups of brewed butterfly pea tea
Ice
Optional, Lemon spice for garnish
Directions
1. Pour ice into a glass.
2. Then pour honey syrup in and squeeze your 1/2 a lemon into the glass. Use a mesh trainer to catch any seeds if needed.
3. Now pour in your butterfly pea tea.
4. Optionally garnish with a lemon slice on the glass rim.
Stir and enjoy!
Since sharing my super popular purple lemonade recipe, I’ve had so many questions and comments about how to make it even more special, or for different occasions! This isn't just any lemonade; it's a vibrant, eye-catching drink that truly brightens any day. I wanted to dive a little deeper into making your purple lemonade experience even better and answer some of those common questions. First off, let’s talk a bit more about the star ingredient: butterfly pea tea. This isn't just for its stunning PURPLE color – it's also packed with antioxidants! I usually buy mine dried flowers online or at an Asian grocery store. The magic really happens when you add the acid from the half lemon squeezed – it transforms from a blue hue to that gorgeous violet. If you ever wondered how to make lemonade purple, this is your secret weapon! Now, for those looking to customize, the possibilities are endless! While my recipe uses honey syrup for a lovely, natural sweetness, you can totally experiment. I’ve tried it with simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water) and even agave nectar, and they all work wonderfully. Just adjust to your taste! For a refreshing twist, I sometimes muddle a few fresh mint leaves or a handful of berries like blueberries or raspberries before adding the ice and liquid. It adds another layer of flavor and makes the drink even prettier. And if you're feeling fancy, top it off with some sparkling water instead of still for a fizzy butterfly pea tea lemonade experience – it’s like a mocktail! Thinking about special occasions, this purple lemonade drink is my absolute go-to for sleepover drinks for kids! The magical color change always gets a huge reaction, and it's so much healthier than sugary sodas. For adult gatherings, you can easily turn this into a chic cocktail by adding a splash of gin or vodka. Trust me, it’s a total crowd-pleaser and always sparks conversation. A quick tip for the best results: always use fresh lemons! I’ve found that bottled lemon juice just doesn’t give you that bright, zesty flavor or the same vibrant color reaction. Also, don't skimp on the ice – it makes the drink extra crisp and delicious, especially on a warm day. If you're making a larger batch for a party, just scale up the ingredients accordingly. You can pre-brew a bigger quantity of butterfly pea tea and keep it chilled. Then, simply mix everything just before serving for maximum freshness. Some of you asked about using lime instead of lemon, perhaps thinking about butterfly pea lime juice. Absolutely! Limes are also acidic and will cause the same color transformation. The flavor profile will be a little tarter and less sweet than lemon, but equally delicious. It just gives it a slightly different character. So, if you're a fan of lime, go for it! This recipe really is so versatile and can be adapted to your personal preferences. Enjoy experimenting and sipping on your beautiful homemade purple lemonade!
