The best way to construct an iced latte
An iced latte consists of the following ingredients:
1. Syrup - if using! Some prefer no sweetener at all.
2. Espresso - a typical latte has 2 shots of espresso.
3. Milk - a typical latte has 1 cup/8 oz of milk.
4. Ice - you can use any type of ice that fits in your glass.
I am often told that this is the best way to construct a latte. Pour all latte ingredients into your glass in the following order:

1. Syrup
2. Freshly brewed espresso
3. Milk of choice
4. Ice
This method allows for better distribution of flavors and keeps ice from melting quickly. I honestly never do this because I love the way espresso looks when you pour it on top of the ice over the milk. But I’ll be honest this way makes the most sense!
I typically use two other different methods

2. Syrup
3. Milk
4. Espresso
With method 2, you must stir the drink really well or else the syrup can sit at the bottom and if you don’t use enough ice you end up with melty ice at the top.
Another method I use is:

3. Espresso and Syrup mixed together
This allows for good distribution of all ingredients once you stir it but you can still have the issue of melty ice on top.
I personally do not usually do this but I have before for sure and I think some would argue this is the correct way.

I don’t love first thing pouring espresso directly over ice for lattes because the ice melts even more quickly than method 2 or 3 in my opinion.
Personally I think method 1 is the true winner! But I just love the aesthetics of method 2 and 3 so I know I won’t always use method 1. Remember you can pour your iced lattes however you want! I’m just breaking down the pros and cons and deciding what I think the best way is. But pour your iced lattes the way you like it and decide for yourself what you like ♥️
