save this for your next dinner spot!!🥢🍚

Recently went to Tong Fu Ju Sichuan Restaurant at Boat Quay with my friends for a media tasting and here’s what we tried!

1) Shredded pork with green chilli: 6/10

- the pork was good but wasn’t a lot :( mostly green chilli

2) Sichuan style spicy prawn: 8/10

- sauce was really good and tasty but it wasn’t spicy at all

3) Sour and spicy shredded potatoes: 9/10

- i loved the seasoning on this! can’t really go wrong with this!

4) Mapo tofu: 9/10

- the tofu was soft and the sauce was yummy!

5) Pickled cabbage grilled fish: 7/10

- couldn’t really taste the sourness of this dish at all so was quite disappointing but the fish was cooked super well!!

We got an outdoor seat overlooking the river and it was actually really cooling and not hot at all as there were fans!! Highly recommend coming here for a chill dinner with your family and friends 😋😋

Tong Fu Ju Sichuan Restaurant
3/25 Edited to

... Read moreIf you’re a fan of Sichuan cuisine or looking to explore new dining experiences, Tong Fu Ju Sichuan Restaurant at Boat Quay is definitely worth a visit. One of the highlights beyond the food is the location — sitting outdoors overlooking the river offers a serene atmosphere with fresh air and gentle fans that keep the space cool and comfortable even during Singapore’s humid evenings. When it comes to the dishes, the shredded pork with green chilli, while not as pork-heavy as expected, offers a nice kick for those who enjoy some heat, though the green chilli predominates. The Sichuan style spicy prawn surprised us with its rich and tasty sauce, despite being less spicy than typical Sichuan fare, catering well to those who prefer milder flavors. Among the standout dishes were the sour and spicy shredded potatoes and mapo tofu, both scoring high for their authentic seasoning and texture. The potatoes are delightfully tangy and spicy, with a perfect balance that makes it a dish you can’t easily get enough of. The soft tofu in mapo tofu, bathed in a savory sauce, highlights the restaurant’s commitment to traditional flavors. The pickled cabbage grilled fish was expertly cooked, with the fish itself tender and flavorful, though the sourness in the pickled cabbage was subtle and might disappoint those seeking a stronger tang. This shows how Tong Fu Ju balances flavors carefully, sometimes dialing down intensity for a more approachable taste. Overall, the dining experience at Tong Fu Ju is enhanced by its welcoming riverfront setting and menu that offers a good mix of authentic Sichuan dishes with some friendly tweaks. It’s a great dinner spot for gathering with friends or family, especially if you enjoy exploring regional Chinese cuisine in a relaxed outdoor setting. Be sure to try the sour and spicy shredded potatoes and mapo tofu as must-orders during your visit.
