Let’s Review - Book 4.5✨

When I went into this book I was not sure how I was going to like or take to it, but Octavia Butler wrote this book in such a good way! I was intrigued the whole time & LOVE the back & forth between time & time travel. This book is VERY triggering as it does cover a lot of heavy topics living in the times where slavery was very much alive. There were times I was pissed & times where I was like omg, I’m so glad this is not actual reality anymore. This book is definitely even more of an eye opener of what our ancestors experienced back in these times. WELL WORTH THE READ, BUT YOU WILL BE TRIGGERED #honestbookreview #BookReviews #readreview #shouldyouread #booksoflemon8

Blending the genres of science fiction and historical fiction, it masterfully tackles issues of race, ancestry, and the lingering effects of slavery. The protagonist's journey back in time serves as a reminder of the struggles faced by our ancestors, provoking thought and empathy. Readers are often left grappling with the contrasts between past and present, making it a powerful catalyst for discussion about race relations today. As Harlan Ellison noted, Butler is a writer whose works resonate long after the last page is turned. 'Kindred' is indeed a magical artifact—one that deserves a spot on every reader's shelf for its ability to educate and evoke emotion through its haunting narrative. If you seek a book that challenges perceptions and ignites meaningful conversations, adding 'Kindred' to your reading list is essential.
