I know I’m complicated.

I know my personality is hard. I know.

Maybe it’s just something I’ve had to do to make me feel safe.. at home.

I know I feel like stone. I feel the calluses on my skin.

I don’t wanna become numb. Yet, I feel denial every time I try to let someone in.

I wanna feel love.

I just don’t know where to begin.

Acknowledging one's complex nature is the first step toward healing. Engaging in open communication is vital, as it invites understanding and fosters connections. Connecting with communities, such as poetry and photography groups, can provide a space for expression and allow individuals to explore and articulate their feelings creatively. Therapy or support groups can also be instrumental in this journey, providing guidance through emotional turmoil and helping to dismantle feelings of denial. It’s essential to take small steps to open up, whether through journaling about experiences or sharing thoughts with trusted friends, gradually easing the process of letting others in. Finding safe spaces to express vulnerability and complexity can lead to lifelong connections and meaningful relationships.
