While he’s definitely not redeemed, Maas does a fantastic job of showing the brokenness beneath the anger, making him a character you love to hate but also pity. And Ianthe… what a truly despicable villain! Her actions heightened the stakes and made me genuinely fearful for our protagonists. The way these characters intertwined with the larger political machinations and the looming war made every chapter feel urgent.
