📚 Title and Author: Good girl bad blood by holly jackson
🌟 Genre: Mystery, fiction and thriller
💬 Short Summary: This book started off the bat with the mystery, it got more and more dramatic the more it went, a lot of lives are at risk and a lot of the things start to add up, SPOILER: it did not have a happy ending :(
But overall if you read the first one I really recommend the sequel!
Key Point #1 : It might be just me but I find pip and Ravi’s relationship cringy and corny! I know they are both supposed to be dorky and have a dorky relationship but it just made them cringe with the nicknames and just….. yeah
Key Point #2 : I really liked trying to solve the mystery and find out who did it while the book is going and if you read it I think you should too!
Key Point #3 : If you’re sensitive to anything about drugs, murder, rape or anything like that I wouldn’t read it.
Key Point #4 : It ends on a cliffhanger in a way and it really bugs but it sets it up for the sequel I guess
... Read moreAfter diving headfirst into 'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder,' I was absolutely buzzing to pick up 'Good Girl, Bad Blood' by Holly Jackson. Let me tell you, this sequel does not disappoint! If you're wondering 'what is Good Girl, Bad Blood about,' it continues Pip Fitz-Amobi's story as she tries to leave her detective days behind. But, as fate would have it, someone she knows goes missing, drawing her back into a dark and dangerous investigation. It’s a classic YA mystery thriller, brimming with suspense and unexpected turns, firmly rooting itself in the genre of gripping whodunits where the stakes keep getting higher.
One question I see popping up a lot is, 'is Good Girl, Bad Blood spicy?' And to be completely honest, no, it's not. If you're looking for romance with steamy scenes, this isn't the book for you. Holly Jackson keeps the focus squarely on the intense mystery and the psychological toll it takes on Pip. While there's a developing relationship, it's definitely not the 'spicy' kind, more on the 'cringy and corny' side as I mentioned in my main review, but it does add a layer of human connection amidst the darkness. The book is more about the thrill of the chase and the moral dilemmas Pip faces.
Speaking of the atmosphere, Holly Jackson, a #1 New York Times bestselling author, truly crafts a tense narrative. The iconic red cover with the white earbuds perfectly sets the mood for a story that immerses you in a complex web of secrets. While my initial review highlighted the cliffhanger, I wanted to expand on how effectively it sets up the third book, leaving you desperate for answers. The pacing is fantastic, pulling you along with Pip as she unveils more layers of the mystery. For those who loved the intricate plotting of the first book, 'Good Girl, Bad Blood' continues that tradition, making you question everyone and everything. It's truly a testament to Jackson's skill that she can maintain such high tension throughout. And if you've seen the 'FIVE SURVIVE' sticker, it's a nod to another thrilling title by the author, showcasing her consistent talent for suspense. This book is a solid 4/5 for anyone who loves a clever, dark, and utterly compelling mystery.
