... Read moreThat verse, Psalm 118:24 – 'This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it' – it's more than just words on a page for me. It’s a daily challenge and a profound comfort all rolled into one. I remember days when it felt impossible to rejoice, when worries about tomorrow would just consume me. But then I'd come back to this verse, and it felt like a gentle whisper, a reminder that each day is a gift, handcrafted by God. It really makes you think about gratitude, doesn't it? I often find myself saying, 'Dear Lord, Thank You for today.' It’s simple, but it shifts my perspective. Sometimes I get so caught up in what's next or what I'm lacking, that I forget to appreciate the present moment, the very breath I’m taking. Recognizing 'Your continued blessings and Grace' in my life, even the small, everyday ones, helps me to cultivate that spirit of gladness the Psalm talks about. It's not about ignoring difficulties, but about choosing to see the good amidst them. The biggest hurdle for me has always been trust. I've had to consciously pray, 'Lord, help me to trust You more.' It’s a journey, not a destination. We all have plans for our lives, don't we? But learning to truly 'trust Your plan for my life, Lord,' has been transformative. It means letting go of the reins a little, acknowledging that there’s a divine architect at work. This is where the wisdom of 'stop worrying about what may or may not happen with the future' comes in. It’s so easy to get caught in that cycle of 'what if.' But when I surrender those fears, I find a peace that allows me to truly rejoice in this day, rather than dreading the next. It's about knowing, deep down, that 'it's in Your hands.' This assurance liberates me to experience joy, even when things are uncertain. So, when Psalm 118:24 calls us to 'rejoice and be glad in it,' I interpret that as an invitation to lean into gratitude, embrace trust, and release the burden of future anxieties. Every sunrise is a fresh start, an opportunity to find God's fingerprints and celebrate His presence. It's a beautiful way to live, focusing on the abundance of today rather than the anxieties of tomorrow.
