God still speaks
Something I love:
Do you ever feel like you're searching for answers, longing for guidance, or just wishing you could hear from God? I've been there so many times! It's easy to wonder if God still communicates with us in our modern world, amidst all the noise and distractions. But through my own journey, I’ve learned that He absolutely does – we just need to learn how to listen and recognize His unique ways of reaching out. It’s not always a booming voice from the sky, as much as we might sometimes wish for something so dramatic! Instead, God often speaks in more subtle, yet profoundly impactful, ways. Here are 12 powerful ways I’ve personally experienced God communicating, and how you might start to hear His voice more clearly in your own life: Through His Written Word (The Bible): This is foundational! The Bible isn't just an old book; it's a living text filled with divine wisdom. So many times, when I've been struggling, a specific verse or story has jumped out at me, offering exactly the comfort or direction I needed. Reading it regularly is like having a direct line. In the Silence of the Heart (Prayer & Meditation): Sometimes, God speaks loudest when we quiet ourselves. Taking time for silent prayer or meditation allows us to clear our minds and create space for His gentle whispers. It’s in these moments of stillness that I often find clarity or a deep sense of peace. Through Nature and Creation: Have you ever felt a profound sense of awe looking at a sunset, a mountain, or a starry night sky? For me, these moments are God's way of reminding me of His grandeur, beauty, and intricate design. It's a non-verbal sermon that speaks volumes. Through Other People: God often uses the people around us to deliver messages. A conversation with a friend, a sermon from a pastor, or even an encouraging word from a stranger can be divinely orchestrated. I’ve had friends speak truth into my life exactly when I needed to hear it most. Through Circumstances and Events: Life throws us curveballs, both good and challenging. Sometimes, closing one door leads to an unexpected open window. Looking back, I can often see how difficult situations or surprising opportunities were God's way of guiding me onto a new path. Through Dreams and Visions: While perhaps less common for everyone, some people experience God speaking through vivid dreams or visions. These aren’t always literal but can carry symbolic messages or warnings. It’s something to be open to and pray for discernment about. Through an Inner Peace or Conviction: This is that deep 'knowing' in your gut or a profound sense of peace about a decision. Conversely, a strong sense of unease can also be a warning. Learning to trust this inner compass, guided by the Holy Spirit, is key. Through the Promptings of the Holy Spirit: As a Christian, I believe the Holy Spirit resides within us. This can manifest as a sudden urge to help someone, a creative idea, or a conviction about something I need to change. It’s an active and powerful way God communicates. Through Worship and Music: Music has an incredible power to connect us to the divine. During worship or while listening to a particular song, I often feel God’s presence strongly, and lyrics can suddenly take on new, personal meaning, speaking directly to my situation. Through Divine Appointments: These are those seemingly coincidental meetings or encounters that turn out to be incredibly significant. I’ve met people at just the right moment who have offered guidance, support, or a piece of information that felt heaven-sent. Through Art and Creativity: Whether it's painting, writing, or crafting, engaging in creative expression can be a form of worship and a channel for divine inspiration. Sometimes, the message comes through the act of creating itself. Through Reflection and Journaling: Taking time to write down my thoughts, feelings, and what I believe God is speaking to me helps me to process and discern. Often, patterns emerge, and I can see God's consistent messages unfolding over time. Learning to hear God's voice is a journey, not a destination. It requires patience, an open heart, and a willingness to listen in unexpected places. The more you seek Him, the more you'll recognize His unique ways of speaking into your life. Keep listening; He still speaks!
