Friendsmas🎄🎅🏼
Best way to spend time with your friends before the holidays
What exactly is Friendsmas, you ask? For me, it's become this truly special pre-holiday gathering where you ditch the formal stuff and simply celebrate the spirit of friendship before the whirlwind of family holidays or travel kicks in. It's truly the best way to spend time with your friends, creating new traditions and making memories that last, all centered around the joy of the season and the bond you share. It's a deliberate act of carving out time for your chosen family, often in a more relaxed and fun setting than traditional holiday parties. So, why celebrate Friendsmas? Beyond just having a fun get-together, it's about acknowledging and cherishing those important friendships that bring so much joy into your life. The holidays can be a busy, sometimes stressful, time, and Friendsmas offers a moment to simply relax, laugh, and reconnect with your closest pals. It's a chance to show appreciation for your friends and make them feel loved, creating a unique holiday memory together that's all your own. Ready to host your own unforgettable Friendsmas? Here are some ideas to make it extra festive and meaningful: 1. Pick a Theme & Dress Code: Our group decided on a cozy pajama theme, which was a huge hit! Everyone came in their best Christmas pajamas – some opted for classic red plaid pajamas, while others went all out with festive patterns or even a silly reindeer onesie. It made for such fun photos around our decorated Christmas tree and instantly set a relaxed, joyful atmosphere. Other ideas could be 'ugly Christmas sweater' or 'sparkle and shine' for a more glam vibe. 2. Deck the Halls (and Table!): You don't need to go overboard, but a little festive decor goes a long way. For our Friendsmas, I loved setting up a festive Christmas table setting. We used a beautiful red runner, gold chargers, and tied red napkins with little sprigs of rosemary for an extra touch. A garland with fairy lights running down the center really brought that warm, holiday atmosphere, making everything feel magical. Don't forget some candles for that cozy glow! 3. Food & Drinks Galore: Keep it fun and easy! We did a potluck style where everyone brought their favorite holiday dish, which meant less stress for the host and a delicious variety for everyone. Think festive finger foods, a warm chili bar, or a build-your-own hot chocolate station. Signature holiday cocktails or mocktails always add a nice touch. The key is comfort and sharing! 4. Fun Activities & Games: Beyond just eating, plan a few activities. We played some silly holiday-themed charades and a white elephant gift exchange, which always brings out the laughs. You could also do a holiday movie marathon, decorate cookies, or even volunteer together for a local charity. The goal is to create shared experiences that spark joy and conversation. 5. Making it Meaningful: Ultimately, Friendsmas is about celebrating friendship. Take a moment to go around the table and have everyone share something they're grateful for about their friends. These small, heartfelt moments often become the most cherished memories. It’s a wonderful way to reinforce the true meaning of friendship during the most wonderful time of the year. Happy Friendsmas!
