Trying to survive the heat lately ☀️🥵
Lately I’ve been trying to figure out how to stay cool with the season heating up, and honestly… it’s been a struggle. Ice baths are practically a necessity at this point. 😅
One thing I’ve learned? If I keep iced tea in the fridge, I’ll reach for it constantly instead of something less refreshing.
So here’s my current favorite recipe:
Ingredients 🌺
* Hibiscus tea (I used a tea bag, but loose-leaf works too!)
* Echinacea/Elderberry blend (I used a tea bag 💁🏼♀️)
* Hot water
* Sugar (I used ¼ cup for a half gallon)
* Cold or room-temperature water
Directions 💧
1. Steep the tea bags in hot water for 6 minutes.
2. Add sugar and stir until dissolved.
3. Add cold or room-temperature water.
4. Place in the fridge and let it chill.
Extra Tips 🍓🫐🍋
* Add fresh fruit, lemon, or berries when serving.
* Serve over plenty of ice for maximum refreshment.

Perfect for hot afternoons, porch sitting, and pretending summer isn’t trying to roast us alive. ☀️😂

As someone who battles the heat every summer, I’ve found that having a chilled, flavorful drink on hand makes all the difference. What I love about this fruit-infused Hibiscus/Echinacea Elderberry tea is not only its cooling effect but also the immune-boosting benefits from the elderberry and echinacea blend. It’s a natural way to stay refreshed and support your health during the scorching months. One tip I’ve picked up is to experiment with adding different fruits like sliced lemons, fresh berries, or even cucumber to the tea right before serving. This not only enhances the flavor but also adds a visually appealing touch, making it perfect for hosting summer gatherings or relaxing on the porch. Preparation is straightforward and doesn’t require complicated ingredients or long cooking times. Steeping the tea bags for about 6 minutes extracts a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness, and using just a quarter cup of sugar keeps it refreshing without being overly sweet. I also like to keep a large pitcher chilled in the fridge so it’s easy to grab a glass anytime I need a cool down. For those who want to reduce sugar, natural sweeteners like honey or agave syrup work well, though they slightly alter the taste. Serving the tea over plenty of ice maximizes the cooling effect, which is a must during heatwaves. In my experience, having this iced tea as a go-to refreshment has helped me avoid reaching for sodas or other less hydrating drinks. It’s a delicious, healthier alternative that feels indulgent without all the guilt. Plus, making it yourself means you can control the ingredients and adjust flavors to your liking. If you're looking for more ways to stay cool and refreshed, consider pairing this tea with light, fresh snacks like fruit salads or chilled cucumber sandwiches. Together, they create a perfect summer vibe that helps you enjoy warm weather without the discomfort of overheating.
