Born in Buena Vista on Sept. 21, 1882, Mary Maxwell Armstrong left a lasting mark on Texas culture. She and her husband built Baylor University’s Armstrong Browning Library, home to the world’s largest collection of Robert & Elizabeth Barrett Browning works. Her vision transformed Baylor into a world-class center for literature.
