A flash of red caught the eye out in Rose Hill, Texas — the striking Red-bellied Woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus). With its bold crimson crown, zebra-striped wings, and curious gaze, this bird adds a spark of color and sound to Texas woodlands. Clinging to the rugged bark of an old tree, it’s easy to see why locals treasure moments like this — nature’s artistry on full display right here in our own backyard.
