✨ What is the Bible, and how many books does it ha

Read moreFrom my personal experience studying the Bible from a Protestant non-denominational standpoint, I found it fascinating how the Bible is divided into two major sections: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament has 39 books, originally written largely in Hebrew and some portions in Aramaic. These books cover several genres including law, history, poetry, and prophecy, recounting stories from creation to the history of Israel and God's covenant with His people. The New Testament, comprising 27 books written in Greek, focuses primarily on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, documented through the Gospels, and the early Christian church’s development. I was impressed by the structured letters — including Paul's epistles — which were written to guide early Christian communities and still offer valuable lessons today. One important aspect I appreciated learning is the 400 years of silence between the Old and New Testaments, during which no new scripture was recorded until the coming of Jesus, fulfilling many Old Testament prophecies. This transition highlights the Bible as a living document centered entirely on God’s plan for salvation, illustrating a seamless connection between both Testaments. I encourage anyone diving into Bible study to recognize these distinctions and the historical context behind each section and book. This approach enriches understanding, helping make biblical teachings not just stories from the past but relevant lessons for personal faith growth.
