Pineapple Passionfruit Matcha

Overall rating: 9/10: Super tasty and refreshing. Also great with lemonade.

Ingredients:

2 oz of water

2 tsp of matcha

8 oz of passion fruit juice (or substitute 4 oz for lemonade for another great drink)

Ice (enough to fill your cup or keep your drink cold whatever floats your boat)

1-2 tbsp of pineapple jam/syrup

👩‍🍳Home Recipe :

In a large enough cup (16oz and up so be good) start by adding your Pineapple jam. I like to froth it with a bit of hot water to thin it out. But that optional.Add your ice. Pour in your Passionfruit juice. Prepare your matcha by shaking, whisking, blending or frothing your 2oz of warm water and 2 tsp of matcha powder. Pour your matcha mixture over the ice.

... Read moreI first discovered the magic of combining matcha with tropical fruits, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer! This Pineapple Passionfruit Matcha, which I sometimes lovingly call my 'Parchamatcha' (a little nod to its vibrant layers), isn't just a drink; it's a mini-vacation in a cup. While the original recipe is fantastic, I've got a few extra tips and tricks to elevate your experience and truly make it your own. First off, getting those beautiful, vibrant layers is easier than you think! The key is to pour slowly and gently over the ice. The ice acts as a barrier, allowing the denser pineapple syrup and passionfruit juice to settle at the bottom, while the lighter matcha floats gracefully on top. I always use plenty of ice – not just for keeping it cold, but for that perfect visual separation. If you’re feeling extra fancy, try gently tilting your cup as you pour the matcha. The visual appeal really adds to the enjoyment, making it totally Instagram-worthy. Now, let's talk about customization. The original recipe uses pineapple jam/syrup, which is delicious, but don't be afraid to experiment! If you prefer a less sweet drink, you can reduce the amount of jam or opt for a sugar-free syrup. For an extra tangy kick, a squeeze of fresh lime or lemon juice can brighten up the flavors beautifully. And remember that hint in the original about lemonade? It's a fantastic twist! Swapping out half of your passion fruit juice for fresh, chilled lemonade creates a wonderfully tart and incredibly refreshing version, perfect for those scorching summer afternoons. It adds a whole new dimension of citrusy zest that pairs surprisingly well with the earthy matcha. For those of you who might be searching for a 'passionfruit matcha latte' experience, while this recipe is designed as a refreshing, non-creamy drink, you can absolutely adapt it! After whisking your matcha with water, try adding a splash of your favorite plant-based milk – oat milk or coconut milk work wonderfully – before pouring it over the pineapple and passionfruit layers. This creates a delightful creamy twist, blending the tropical notes with a smooth, latte-like texture. It’s a great way to enjoy the best of both worlds! Finally, don't underestimate the power of a good garnish. A slice of fresh pineapple, a few passionfruit seeds, or even a sprig of mint can take your 'Parchamatcha' from great to absolutely stunning. It’s all about creating an experience. This drink is not only super tasty and refreshing but also provides a lovely pick-me-up with the natural energy from matcha. It's truly become my go-to recipe for a vibrant, delicious treat that's easy to make at home.
