Skills that are Essential for Radiology Nurses
Radiology nursing is so different from any of kind of nursing I’ve done. So of course there will be a different level of skills needed to become a Radiology Nurse.
I’ve been a Radiology Nurse for 6 years and I’m still learning till this day!
- Time management (instead of being assigned to a group of patients. You will be assignment to procedures with patients. It so important to be good with time management. Preparing the patient, to in the procedural room, and recovering the patient!)
- Be ready for anything (Working in Radiology in the hospital means you will be On Call for emergency procedures. You can be called at any time of the day! Once I was called at 4am on a Monday and had to go to work right after!)
- Patience (Some of the cases can be hours long. That means you will have to wear your lead. Which can be a little heavy, during the whole duration of the procedure)
- Teamwork (this is one of the most important. You not only work with other nurses, but the doctors, and the radiology technologist as well! Working together is vital for good patient care!)
