Tonight’s Dinner

Very simple dinner for this Monday evening! We had spaghetti, corn, & garlic knots ✨ our 1 year old is still getting used to different textures. He doesn’t care for spaghetti noodles or ground beef, but he ate almost the whole bowl when I blended everything together. Our 5 year old doesn’t like red sauce so I always make her plate first. I’m cool with altering dinner so everyone can enjoy 💞

... Read moreAs a parent, I know the dinner dilemma all too well, especially when you've got picky eaters at the table! That's why I wanted to share a bit more about how I navigate meal times to keep everyone happy and fed. My spaghetti night is just one example, but the strategies I use can really apply to so many other dishes. One of my biggest takeaways, and something I saw in my own custom spaghetti plates, is the power of deconstruction. Instead of mixing everything together, I'll often serve components separately. For my 5-year-old who dislikes red sauce, plain noodles, ground beef, and corn on the side work perfectly. It gives her control and makes the meal less intimidating. For my little one who's still exploring textures, blending can be a lifesaver, as I did with the spaghetti and corn. It ensures they get the nutrients without the fuss. My 1-year-old happily ate his blended spaghetti and corn, while my 5-year-old enjoyed her separate portions of plain noodles, ground beef, corn, and garlic knots. Another game-changer for me has been involving the kids in meal prep, even in small ways. Letting them pick out a vegetable at the grocery store or help stir something in a bowl makes them more likely to try what's on their plate. I've also found that offering small portions and allowing them to ask for more (without pressure) reduces food waste and encourages a positive relationship with food. It’s all about creating a relaxed atmosphere, even when you're serving something as simple as garlic knots on the side. And speaking of making things easier, a weekly meal plan has become my secret weapon! I saw a note about it in one of my planning apps, and it's truly changed my weeknights. Planning out meals like grilled chicken, beef stroganoff, or even a simple takeout night, helps me think ahead about how I can adapt each dish for my picky eaters. For instance, if we're having chicken fajitas, I can serve the chicken plain for one child and with all the fixings for another. This weekly meal plan also often includes a frozen pizza night or steak & shrimp foils for variety. It takes the stress out of daily decision-making and ensures I have ingredients on hand. Don't be afraid to keep it simple with easy sides like corn or even frozen pizza nights occasionally! It's all about balance and finding what works for your family. Remember, every meal doesn't have to be a culinary masterpiece. Sometimes, success is just seeing happy, full tummies at the end of the day, even if it means altering dinner so everyone can enjoy.

I wish you could work from home as well because I know that you miss your babies, trying to educate the world’s babies. You are amazing and special because that’s what I believe teachers are. So remember, I said that OK? I am sending so much love.Family first.🥰❤️✌🏽

I don’t like this idea.I LOVE IT!! I love this so much. This makes me so happy. I do the same thing for my grandbaby if she doesn’t like a certain texture then I’ll either give her something else or try to tweak it. They have feelings just like we do they know what they like.🥰❤️
