Chicken Fajitas
#lemon8challenge #lemon8badgehunt
Y'all know I'm on this lifestyle kick until it sticks. I'm learning that it's not about eliminating every single thing it's about being intentional.
I did not have any already-made Fajita seasoning or packets. I decided to just make my own with the ingredients I have at home already.
I cleaned my chicken then Seasoned with
Chilli powder
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Cumin
Cayenne
Black pepper
Low sodium Seasoned salt
Added low sodium chicken broth as well.
I plan to use a whole wheat carb-balancing tortilla.
Making chicken fajitas from scratch can be both fun and nutritious, especially when you customize your seasoning to suit your taste and health goals. I found that creating my own fajita seasoning mix using pantry staples like chili powder, cumin, garlic, onion powder, cayenne, and black pepper not only saves money but also reduces unwanted additives often found in pre-packaged mixes. Using low-sodium seasoned salt and chicken broth helps control the sodium content, which is vital for maintaining heart health without compromising flavor. One thing I've learned is that marinating the chicken in this seasoning blend for at least 30 minutes before cooking greatly enhances the depth of flavor and tenderness. Choosing whole wheat tortillas adds fiber and makes the meal more balanced from a nutritional standpoint—a great choice if you're aiming to manage blood sugar levels or increase your dietary fiber intake. Pairing these fajitas with fresh vegetables like sautéed bell peppers and onions boosts the vitamins and antioxidants in your meal, making it even more satisfying. This recipe fits well with an intentional lifestyle approach, focusing on nourishing your body without feeling deprived. By using simple ingredients you likely already have, you can whip up a flavorful, guilt-free dinner that supports your health journey. Plus, fajita nights are always a hit with family and friends, bringing a fun, colorful meal to the table.
