my hair type 🍊

bleaching my locs had my hair looking so cute but it dried it out quickly. Heres how I took care of my colored locs. I had to make sure I kept it moisturized. I would mist my hair with water daily and then add some type of oil to it. I also used conditioners. My type 4b/4c hair thanked me for that extra step🫶🏾

I still kept my curls in tact at the end of my locs to this day they are not fully locd.

From my experience, maintaining moisture balance is absolutely critical, and water misting combined with oils and conditioners provides the best protection. For type 4b/4c hair textures, which are naturally prone to dryness, bleaching accelerates moisture loss, so I found that creating a consistent daily regimen is key. Spraying water regularly to hydrate the hair before sealing it with emollient oils like jojoba or castor oil helped prevent brittleness. It's important to choose oils that lock in moisture without weighing down the locs. Using deep conditioners weekly also restored softness and elasticity, which kept my locs looking healthy and preserved the curl pattern at the ends. When bleaching, it’s essential to avoid harsh shampoos and minimize heat styling to reduce further damage. I also noticed that allowing the curls at the ends to remain intact added a natural dimension to my loc style, making it unique and vibrant. Patience during the regrowth phase and gentle handling while detangling or moisturizing has helped maintain the integrity of my locs throughout the bleaching process. Incorporating these self-care habits allows for sustained protection and keeps bleached colored locs looking their absolute best, proving that with the right care, type 4b/4c hair can thrive even with bleaching treatments.
