Some of my top favorite games I have played over the years!!

Animal Crossing (Gamecube)

⭐️ Rating: 4.5/5 only because of how long it takes to acquire a house

✨ Pros: Meeting all the different characters, collecting all different fossils, bugs, and fish!

👀 Cons: The amount of time it takes to acquire money

Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life

⭐️ Rating: 5/5

First game I ever played with my grandma we spent hours on this game!

✨ Pros: Farming and Selling items to villagers

👀 Cons: My only Con would be how long it took to start the game

Animal Crossing New Horizon

Was so excited when it first came out I played always all of them up to that point

✨ Pros: Bigger collections of bugs, fish, and fossils, the amount of furniture there is, and all the different outfits!

👀 Cons: Honestly only Con would be the fight to get tickets to find the villagers I want on my island 🤣

Skyrim Elder Scrolls V

I spent my teens playing this over and over starting over and over wanting to start over but always ended up as a Elf Archer

✨ Pros: Vampires, werewolves, being able to build your own house, and the open world

👀 Cons: DWEMERS

Sims 4 (PC player)

I spent hours and hours on this game in highschool creating what I wanted my future to be 🤣 Then I learned about the challenges people created and started that

✨ Pros: Pets, toddlers, and everything in between

👀 Cons: The fact that there are so many packs to buy and they are not the cheapest

Palia

When people think of 'story games,' they often jump to epic RPGs, but the GameCube offered a fantastic range, from subtle narratives to grand adventures. Like many, I remember Animal Crossing for GameCube as 'one of my favorite GameCube games!' While it might not have a traditional linear plot, the 'story' you create is deeply personal. Building your town, forming relationships with quirky animal villagers, paying off your mortgage (eventually!), and collecting unique items all contribute to a unique, ongoing narrative that's entirely your own. Every bug caught, every fish reeled in, and every fossil dug up felt like a chapter in my personal island saga. It’s a testament to how emergent gameplay can truly craft a compelling story. Then there's Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. This game truly perfected the farming simulation 'story.' It wasn't just about growing crops; it was about building a life, starting a family, and watching your child grow up over generations. The passage of time and the impact of your decisions on your farm and family felt incredibly profound, creating a slow-burn narrative that was deeply engaging and emotional. It really taught me the value of patience and long-term goals in gaming, making every season feel like a new chapter in my character's life story. Beyond my personal favorites, the GameCube had so many other incredible story-rich titles. If you’re searching for more 'GameCube story games,' I'd highly recommend diving into something like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Its cel-shaded art style hides a truly epic tale of courage, exploration, and destiny across a vast, beautiful ocean. Or, for a more whimsical RPG experience, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door offers witty dialogue, memorable characters, and a captivating quest that feels like reading an interactive storybook. For those who prefer a darker, more intense narrative, Resident Evil 4 redefined survival horror with its gripping plot and unforgettable characters, immersing you in a desperate fight for survival. Each of these games provides a distinct narrative experience, showcasing the versatility of the GameCube's library. Revisiting these classics isn't just about nostalgia; it’s about rediscovering masterfully crafted worlds and stories that still resonate today. Whether you're looking for a cozy life sim or a grand adventure, the GameCube's collection of story-driven games offers something truly special. I often find myself thinking about the unique ways these games pulled me into their worlds, creating memories that last a lifetime. What are some of your go-to GameCube story games?
