I got laid off & became an entrepreneur
It’s Admin day 👩🏾💼 spend the day with me as a 26 year old entrepreneur ⚡️
I had to pick up some new ingredients for my products and go print some new labels since my printer wanted to start acting funky recently

It's funny, when people talk about an 'entrepreneurs break,' they often picture lavish vacations or endless free time. But for so many of us, especially in the early stages, an 'entrepreneurs break' is less about relaxing on a beach and more about the daily grind, the small victories, and sometimes, the sheer exhaustion! My own journey into entrepreneurship really kicked off after a major life 'break' – getting laid off from my corporate job. It was a scary moment, but it also became the catalyst for something incredible: building my own skincare business from the ground up. That initial 'break' from traditional employment felt like falling off a cliff and simultaneously soaring. One day, you're part of a big machine, and the next, every decision, every task, every tiny detail is on your shoulders. It's a huge shift in mindset. Suddenly, those mundane 'admin days' that my previous role handled are now my responsibility. And let me tell you, they are crucial! My recent admin day, for instance, involved sourcing new batches of ingredients for my beloved 'Coco Mango' line. I’m talking about finding that perfect, tropical blend of creamy coconut and juicy mango that makes everyone say, 'Wow, this smells like paradise!' It's not just about mixing and creating; it's about quality, consistency, and ensuring every product meets my high standards. Beyond ingredient sourcing, there’s the not-so-glamorous task of printing new labels. Who knew a printer could have such a personality? Mine decided to act 'funky' right when I needed a fresh batch of product labels. These are the little 'breaks' in your day – not the relaxing kind, but the moments that test your patience and problem-solving skills! You learn quickly that being an entrepreneur means wearing all the hats, from creative director to operations manager, and yes, even IT support for your stubborn printer. But what about actual breaks? The kind that help you avoid burnout? That's something I've had to learn to intentionally build into my schedule. It's easy to work 14-hour days when your passion is your paycheck. However, real 'entrepreneurs break' moments are essential for sustainability. It could be a 15-minute walk, stepping away from my workspace for a quick snack, or simply putting on my favorite playlist while I'm packing orders. I've found that even small pauses help me reset and come back to my tasks, like preparing that creamy coconut and juicy mango blend, with fresh eyes and renewed energy. For anyone else making that 'break' into entrepreneurship, especially after a layoff, my biggest advice is to embrace every part of the journey. The admin days, the frustrating printer moments, the thrill of finding the perfect 'Coco Mango' supplier – it's all part of building something amazing. Create systems, learn to delegate when you can, and always remember why you started. And please, schedule those real breaks! Your mental health and your business will thank you for it. It's truly a unique path, full of challenges and immense rewards, and every day is a learning experience on this exciting 'break' from the ordinary.
