Our little get away to Vieques Puerto Rico 🇵🇷

Oh my goodness, you have to add Vieques, Puerto Rico, to your travel list! After our recent trip, I can honestly say it's one of the most magical places I've ever visited. Beyond the tranquil vibe, there's so much to explore, whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion. Let's talk about the 'things to do' because Vieques is packed with them! Of course, the absolute highlight for many, including me, is the Bioluminescent Bay. Imagine kayaking through water that glows with every stroke – it's truly an otherworldly experience. I recommend booking a tour in advance, especially during the new moon for the best visibility. Then there are the beaches! Vieques boasts some of the most pristine and diverse beaches in the Caribbean. We spent glorious days at Sun Bay, which is perfect for swimming, and explored the more secluded crescents like Media Luna and Navio. But a truly unique experience was the horseback riding on a black sand beach, just as you see in those stunning photos! It felt like something out of a movie, and the horses were so gentle. It's an excursion you shouldn't miss. For a bit of history, the Vieques Sugar Mill Ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into the island's past. It's a short, interesting detour that adds another layer to your island exploration. And if you’re wondering 'what to do in Vieques for a day' or looking for a vibrant spot, head to Esperanza. This charming village is fantastic for grabbing a bite, like at Duffy's Esperanza (their menu had some amazing local dishes!), or just soaking in the local atmosphere. Some of the best snorkeling spots or quiet coves are found simply by exploring. Renting a jeep is almost essential to get to all the best spots, especially the more remote beaches.
