Realistic Itinerary in Japan part 1

Here is my realistic itinerary with time stamps. I get overwhelmed when planning for any Japan trip. There are so many things and places to check out. Sometimes even having the fear of missing out and wanting to chase viral spots. But travelling shouldn't be stressful and a race to tick off places on the checklist - the corporate 9-6 or 9-5 is already a stressful race on its own.

... Read morePlanning a trip to Japan can easily feel overwhelming due to the sheer number of must-see spots and cultural experiences available. From my own travel experience, breaking your days down with a realistic itinerary helped me tremendously. One thing I found useful was to incorporate buffer times between activities, especially in busy areas like Gotokuji Temple and Shimokitazawa, to avoid feeling rushed. During my visit, I noticed how the local cafés, such as Cafe Veloce near Gotokuji Station, offer welcoming spots to pause and recharge. Savoring a relaxed breakfast or coffee break amidst the whirlwind of sightseeing really enhanced my trip. It's also important to be alert to little details on your route, like the warning around Gotokuji Station about gaps in the rail for safety. Such practical tips can save a lot of stress. Exploring neighborhoods like Shimokitazawa gave me a breath of fresh air from the typical tourist circuits. The laid-back vibe, small shops, and street cafes made for a perfect afternoon pause. Later, hopping over to iconic areas like Shibuya let me enjoy both vibrant city life and my favorite Japanese dishes such as shabu-shabu and sushi. In short, my advice for fellow travelers is to make the itinerary a helpful guide rather than a strict checklist. Allow room for spontaneity and rest, and focus on quality experiences rather than rushing through too many viral spots. This approach made my Japan trip much more enjoyable and meaningful, and I believe can do the same for you.

Tokyo recommendations — Part 1
This was our first time to Tokyo so we had to start from scratch with our research. We spent just 5 days there, and were intentional with making sure we covered a good mix of food, nature, design, architecture, but without having any hard plans since we knew the weather was to be unpredictable.
