My journey with SIBO / poor gut health

I felt hopeless.

Like things would never get better and I was destined to live a life completely uncomfortable in my own skin.

One where I said no to every social event.

One where I had to give up movement because I felt that horrible.

One where I felt so restricted to 10 food items m because that’s all I felt safe around.

Things at times got really dark and miserable, I won’t lie.

I think when you tell people you have digestive issues they take it lightly and assume it’s the most mild stomach ache.

You truly don’t realize what you have until you don’t.

I am by no means healed but I feel like I am moving in the right direction and I don’t plan on changing anything in the near future.

I was hopeless and now I’m not. There is light at the end of the tunnel despite how dark it can get sometimes 💗

I was constantly battling discomfort, bloating, and unpredictable symptoms, which led to avoiding social events and even movement because I simply felt too unwell. My diet was incredibly restrictive; I was practically living on a handful of 'safe' foods, fearing every bite would trigger another episode. The emotional toll was immense, impacting my mental well-being just as much as my physical health. It felt like an endless cycle of pain, disappointment, and isolation. Many people don't realize the depth of digestive issues until they experience them, assuming it's just a mild stomach ache. For me, it was debilitating, dictating every aspect of my life and making me feel completely uncomfortable in my own skin. But now, looking at my 'after,' the progress I'm making is what keeps me going. It wasn't an overnight fix, and there were definitely ups and downs. I even had moments where I slipped back into old patterns, like binge eating, which made things feel incredibly hopeless again. But those experiences only solidified my commitment to finding what truly works for my body. I'm literally not switching a single thing in my regimen because I've found a routine that helps me feel 10 out of ten. My supplements will stay the same, as they've been a consistent support system in managing symptoms and supporting my gut. Diet-wise, I've embraced a very specific approach: gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free. You might wonder, 'what do you eat?' Well, I eat a lot of meat and a lot of fruit! It sounds simple, but it’s been transformative. I’ve transitioned more into an animal-based way of eating, which has been incredibly beneficial for my gut health. This isn't just about avoiding triggers; it's about nourishing my body with foods that support healing and reduce inflammation. This shift, combined with consistent daily habits and my unchanging supplement regimen, has brought me to a place where I no longer feel destined to live uncomfortably. The constant fear of food is gone. There's genuine light at the end of this tunnel, and I want others on a similar journey to know that true transformation is possible, even if it feels distant right now. Seeing my own 'before and after' has been the most powerful motivator.
