About the Photographer

Hey everyone I'm new to Lemon8 and I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Alan. I was born in Norwich, New York a very small community town / farming town ( Home of the Makers of Pepto Bismol ) and lived there until 1990 then moved out west to Nevada and basically grew up in a small mining town called Carlin and lived graduated HS there. Before I got into photography, my passion was becoming a meteorologist, and the second one was becoming a Law Enforcement Officer eventually that never happened on both. About a few years later, after HS sometime in 2007, I eventually went back to New York to be with my family and then became a Volunteer Fire Fighter ( Fire Police ) for 5 years 2008-2013. Then, in 2011, I decided to go to school and took a trade in security and law enforcement, and I graduated in 2012. After a while, I decided to go ahead and start doing photography, and because I lived out in the country, I couldn't resist capturing great things that caught my eyes about how beautiful the New York countryside looks with some old 1700s-1800s barns and old farm houses and how beautiful the green scenery was including the fall foliage. Sadly, I didn't have Instagram or Twitter during that time, but only Facebook to share my content with and the camera at the time I was using was my cellphone, so everything I shared was on Facebook.

Well, a year later, 2013, I decided to go back to Nevada to live in Elko, which I'm currently living now and I stopped doing photography for at least a few years until I officially bought my first actual camera Nikon B5200 Digital and that is when I started capturing photos again and decided to start Montross Photography. I'm thankful for everyone who I met on here and other platforms. I never wanted to become a personal photographer but something to share my content with you all. Well, I do appreciate everyone who has liked and followed me on here, including all my other platforms. If it wasn't you guys liking my content, I wouldn't be where I'm at now. So thank you, and like always Never Stop Creating 🙂 📸!!!

... Read morePhotography can be a powerful tool for storytelling, allowing individuals to convey emotions and share experiences through visual art. As you dive into the world of photography, consider experimenting with different techniques and styles. For instance, landscape photography can showcase the beauty of nature, similar to Alan's captures of the New York countryside. To enhance your skills, think about the equipment you use. While Alan started with a smartphone, upgrading to a dedicated camera like the Canon or the Nikon B5200 can significantly improve picture quality. Understanding the settings on your camera, such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, can also elevate your work. Research online resources, tutorials, or even local classes to build your knowledge. Moreover, creating a social media presence on platforms like Instagram can help you connect with other photographers and share your progress. Engaging with the photography community provides valuable feedback, inspiration, and potential collaborations. Always remember: photography is not just about the final image, but the journey and experiences that come with it. So, take Alan's advice and never stop creating! Happy shooting!

Must Need Apps As A Photographer
1. Camera Connect - This app is specifically for my canon cameras (all I use) but there’s an app like this for every type of camera (i believe)! It bluetooths to your camera and allows you to get all your photos and even lets you take photos from your phone if you wanted to do a portrait ses
