Tempesto

Hey thrill-seekers! If you're planning a trip to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, you absolutely have to put Tempesto on your must-ride list. I recently visited and this roller coaster completely blew me away. It’s one of those rides that gets your heart pumping just looking at it, and the experience itself? Unforgettable! So, what exactly is Tempesto? Imagine a triple-launch coaster that catapults you forward, then backward, then forward again at incredible speeds, leading into a 154-foot tall loop. Yes, you read that right – triple launch! Located in the Festa Italia section of Busch Gardens Williamsburg, it’s impossible to miss with its striking yellow track. It’s designed for those who crave adrenaline and isn’t for the faint of heart, but trust me, it’s worth every scream! Walking into the queue, you can hear the screams and the roar of the launch, which just builds the anticipation. When it was finally my turn, I strapped in, took a deep breath, and prepared for what I knew would be a wild ride. The first launch pins you back in your seat, and just when you think you're going to crest the top, it sends you *backwards*! That backward launch is such a unique and disorienting sensation, quickly followed by another rapid forward launch that sends you soaring up and over the giant loop. You hang upside down for a moment at the top of that loop, giving you a breathtaking (and slightly terrifying!) view of the park, before diving back down. The whole thing is over in a flash, but the rush lasts long after you've exited the ride. My face hurt from smiling and screaming! Tips for Conquering Tempesto: Timing is Key: If you want to avoid long waits, try to hit Tempesto first thing in the morning or later in the evening before the park closes. Mid-day lines can get pretty extensive, especially on weekends. Secure Loose Items: Seriously, anything that isn't firmly attached to you will fly out. There are lockers available near the ride entrance, and I highly recommend using them for phones, hats, and anything else you don't want to lose mid-inversion. Height Requirement: Make sure everyone in your group meets the 54-inch height requirement before you get in line. Nothing's worse than waiting only to find out someone can't ride! Hydrate & Fuel: Rides like Tempesto can take a lot out of you. Make sure you're well-hydrated and have had something to eat (but not too much right before the ride, if you know what I mean!). Embrace the Thrill: My biggest tip? Just let go and enjoy the experience! Lean into the launches, embrace the inversions, and scream your heart out. It’s an incredible machine designed to give you an unforgettable adrenaline rush, and it definitely delivers. Overall, Tempesto is an absolute standout at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
