TRACIE AND ELY. Homelessness wears all different faces. I had no idea Tracie and Ely are unhoused when first meeting them. It sounds like they’ve been without a home for quite some time. “We went homeless on my birthday.” Ely was working at an Amazon facility when he was pushed out. “They don’t want employees to stay as conveyer belt workers for more than two years. If you’re there for more than two years they push you out.” Tracie’s goal, “….is to have a home by January 2027.” Right now Tracie lives at a shelter and Ely and his brother live in their broken down car. Winter’s coming. “My dream is to get my GED, work with DV victims, and get my certification to do nails.” #thankyou #spokanestories #storyoftheday #photographoftheday #domesticviolence
