What is sea witchcraft?

This is by far the most challenging path I’ve ever walked but I wouldn’t trade it for anything 🌊🧜🏼‍♀️

Hi Sea Stars!

My name is Jessie Joi- A practicing sea witch of nearly a decade who works with mermaids and loves cleaning the beach! If I’m not online or swimming in a tail, chances are my cats or my latest book are holding me hostage! Water is my life, creating my passion, and I am so excited to travel along this sea witch path together! #mermaid #h2ojustaddwater #seawitch #witchcraft

... Read moreYou might have landed here wondering, 'What's Sea Witchcraft?!' It's more than just a fascination with the ocean; it's a profound spiritual path, a life dedicated to the ocean and all that it embodies. For me, it's finding where I was always meant to be – deeply connected to the ebb and flow of the tides and the vast mysteries of the deep. It truly is a path of flow and freedom, embracing the untamed spirit of the sea. Many people ask about the practical side of ocean witchcraft, especially regarding tools and rituals. One of the most accessible and potent tools we have are seashells. They aren't just pretty souvenirs; each shell holds unique energy and meaning. For example, a conch shell can be used for calling in abundance or for powerful protection spells, while cowrie shells often symbolize fertility, wealth, and divine feminine energy. When using seashells in witchcraft, their position can indeed hold significance. Placing them in a circle can create a protective barrier, while arranging them in specific patterns, like a spiral, might amplify intentions for growth or journeying. I often collect shells mindfully from the beach, always thanking the ocean for its gifts, and then cleanse them before incorporating them into my altar or spell work. You can use them to create sea-blessed waters, charge other tools, or even as scrying mirrors if they're polished enough. Speaking of spells, the sea offers an incredible wellspring of energy for casting. Spells of the sea often harness the moon's phases and the tides. A full moon high tide, for instance, is perfect for spells of manifestation and bringing things into your life, while a waning moon low tide is ideal for banishing, releasing, and letting go. Simple ocean magic spells can involve writing your intention on a biodegradable piece of paper, sealing it in a shell, and returning it to the ocean (if safe and appropriate for your local environment), or simply meditating by the shore, allowing the waves to wash away negativity and bring in peace. Remember, the true power comes from your intention and your connection to the water. This path isn't just about spells; it's about a lifestyle. It’s about respecting the ocean, understanding its rhythms, and being a steward of its beauty. That's why cleaning the beach is often a natural extension of this practice for many sea witches, including myself. It’s a way to give back to the element that gives us so much. Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or just dipping your toes into ocean water witchcraft, remember that the sea is a teacher, a healer, and a source of boundless magic. Embrace the flow, seek the freedom, and let the ocean guide you on your unique journey.
