2016 camera roll pt 2

brows: too dark. lips: too matte. 2016: too iconic. 👏🏻 (I was depressed in 2016, so some of these are 2017 but I’m not waiting another year to post 🤪) #2016 #makeup #trending

For instance, my brows were definitely on the darker side—something I’ve since softened to suit my current aesthetic. Matte lips were all the rage back then, and while I loved their bold look, I now prefer a bit of gloss or satin finish for a more natural vibe. One beauty product I remember loving was the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. The glow it gave was unmatched for that time. Although I tried the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, it didn’t provide enough coverage for me, so I ended up returning it. That’s a great reminder that even highly rated products might not suit everyone—the key is finding what works for your unique skin and desired finish. Highlighters, blush, and winged liner were staples in my makeup bag, enhanced sometimes by Snapchat filters that gave my overall look a memorable edge. Brows, lips, and skin shimmer defined my 2016-2017 style, which now feels like a nostalgic throwback compared to current minimal or dewy trends. Reflecting on these moments has been therapeutic, especially since 2016 was a tough year emotionally for me. Sharing these photos and experiences is a way to embrace growth—not just in beauty preferences but also personally. If you’re scrolling through your old photos, you might find similar shifts in style and self-expression that celebrate where you’ve been and where you’re headed in your makeup journey.
