BOUNDARIES... ( Biblically )🦋

First, let's turn this topic into the God's truth.

👉The concept of boundaries comes from the very nature of God. God defines himself as a distinct, separate being, and he is responsible for himself.

👉Boundaries help us to distinguish our property so that we can take care of it. They help us to “guard our heart with all diligence.” We need to keep things that will nurture us inside our fences and keep things that will harm us outside. In short, boundaries help us keep the good in and the bad out. They guard our treasures (Matt. 7:6)

👉In short, boundaries are not walls. The Bible does not say that we are to be “walled off” from others; in fact, it says that we are to be “one” with them (John 17:11)

⚡️Removing yourself from the situation will also cause the one who is left behind to experience a loss of fellowship that may lead to changed behavior (Matt. 18:17–18; 1 Cor. 5:11–13)

‼️You should not continue to set yourself up for hurt and disappointment. If you have been in an abusive relationship, you should wait until it is safe and until real patterns of change have been demonstrated before you go back.‼️

They help to maintain emotional and spiritual health by allowing us to define what is acceptable and what is not in our relationships. Recognizing that God created us with distinct identities means understanding that we have responsibilities towards ourselves and others. The Bible encourages us to set boundaries wisely, aiming for growth rather than separation. For instance, Proverbs 4:23 advises us to guard our hearts, underlining the importance of protecting our inner selves from harmful influences. Healthy relationships involve mutual respect and understanding of personal limits, which allow for nurturing environments both in friendships and partnerships. Additionally, understanding when to step back from toxic relationships is a crucial aspect. Matthew 18:17-18 talks about addressing wrongs, emphasizing that sometimes a temporary distance may lead to healthier dynamics. It’s not about shutting ourselves off from the world; rather, it's about creating spaces where peace and respect thrive. By applying these principles, individuals can cultivate an environment that fosters healing and growth, both personally and relationally. Furthermore, for those coming out of abusive situations, it’s vital to recognize and wait for signs of real change before re-engaging with former relationships. True healing takes time and should be approached with patience and wisdom. In this way, setting boundaries reflects God's desire for us to live in wellness and community, ultimately leading to healthier interactions that glorify Him.
