Quiet Boy Turned Crown Prince - Journey Thru 🎨

Xavier isn't my oldest oc but he is the most developed. I started roleplaying him back in 2017. He's taken on many different looks, powers, and roles. Thru all of them, he is still the strong silent type

His biggest changes were when I took his vampire AU form and began roleplaying again in 2023. Over many rps he still evolved, taking on a more "shadow daddy book boyfriend" appearance. Didn't mean for that to happen, but it did. I made him BEFORE I knew those terms for clarification 🙈

He's the male main character of my story. And if anyone is reading this, I'm not taking about a love interest. Most chapters will be from his pov. So a little secret for those who read my posts! 😉

... Read moreHey fellow creators and storytellers! It’s so inspiring to see how characters can evolve over time, much like my journey with Xavier. If you’re like me and love diving into character design, especially for original characters (OCs) in an anime style, I wanted to share some insights on how you can bring your own creations to life and let them truly grow. When I first started out, my characters usually began with a simple idea, maybe a basic human form – much like Xavier’s initial sketches with dark hair and purple eyes, sporting a white tee and jeans. Don't be afraid to start small! The magic often happens during roleplaying or simply by letting your imagination run wild. Roleplaying is fantastic for testing out personalities and seeing how your character reacts in different scenarios. It's where their "strong, silent type" nature might truly emerge, or you might find unexpected traits. One of the most exciting parts of OC creation is the freedom to experiment. Have you ever considered a completely different aesthetic for your character? For Xavier, there was even a "plant" version with green hair and plant-like tendrils, holding a mushroom and a book! And another with striking blue hair and headphones. These explorations, even if they don't become the final version, are vital for understanding your character's potential and pushing your creative boundaries. Don't be afraid to try out wild ideas – they can sometimes spark the next big step in their evolution. Sometimes, external influences or popular trends can subtly weave their way into your character, too. For instance, the whole "shadow daddy book boyfriend" vibe became a part of Xavier's evolution – something I didn't even plan but embraced! You might find yourself incorporating elements like darker hair, angular features, or even shadow powers because it just fits the character's developing persona, making them more intriguing and complex. It's all part of the organic process. Ultimately, your character might settle into a more refined form. For Xavier, this led to his pureblood vampire prince appearance, complete with pointed ears, yellow eyes, and elegant dark attire. Every detail, from his clothes to his supernatural abilities, tells a story about who he has become. Think about how each visual cue reinforces their backstory and personality. And if you’re planning for your OC to be the male main character of a story, like Xavier is for mine, remember to give them depth. What are their motivations? Their hidden vulnerabilities? What makes them tick? Developing their point of view thoroughly will make them incredibly compelling for your readers. I've found that the more I understand my character, the richer their story becomes. So, keep drawing, keep writing, and let your OCs take on a life of their own! What's your favorite part about developing your OCs?
