Meet My 10 1/2 pound Baby, POETIC 💙🧡

Who else knows what it’s like to have a big chunky baby? 💙

My son came out 10lbs and 12.5oz 😮‍💨. I was in active labor for 24 hours trying to deliver naturally before having a c section. I delivered my daughter vaginally weighting at 7lbs 2oz but my son and her were 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT pregnancies for sure 😮‍💨 . It was a good thing too that I had the c section because it turns out nobody detected my baby was faced upward! (instead of him being occiput anterior he was occiput posterior) and we didn’t even know! After coming out he needed a little extra oxygen, sugar, & 1 1/2 days in NICU but he was fine! 🥹 When I say the nurses were in love with my big chunky baby, they were in love😭 they kept saying, “we rarely get the big chunky babies!”

& YES! My Baby’s first name is Poetic and middle name is Justice. Look up the meaning behind Poetic Justice before coming incorrect & know that he’s named after his father Justice. Him and his name are PERFECT bookie😘

... Read moreIt's true what they say – every pregnancy and every baby is so incredibly different! My journey with my son, Poetic, was a testament to that. When he arrived at a formidable 10lbs 12.5 oz, it was a completely different ballgame compared to my first. I often reflect on the whirlwind 24 hours of active labor, trying for a natural birth, which ultimately led to an unexpected but necessary C-section. For anyone out there facing a similar situation, especially with a larger-than-average baby, I wanted to share a bit more about my experience and what I learned. One of the biggest surprises was discovering that Poetic was occiput posterior – basically, facing upwards – which made natural delivery incredibly challenging. It's truly amazing how our bodies adapt, but sometimes medical intervention becomes a blessing. My C-section recovery felt intense, especially with the exhaustion from prior labor, but holding my healthy, chunky baby made every stitch worth it. If you're heading for a C-section, especially after a long labor, remember to advocate for yourself in recovery and don't hesitate to ask for pain management. And let me tell you, finding newborn clothes that fit a 10lb baby is a whole adventure in itself! We quickly moved into 0-3 month sizes, and even those were snug. The short stay in the NICU was also something I hadn't anticipated. Seeing my newborn, who weighed over 10 pounds, needing a little extra support for oxygen and sugar was tough, but the nurses were absolute angels. They were so comforting and reassuring, and honestly, they loved his big cheeks! It taught me so much about resilience and trusting the medical team. For fellow moms whose babies might need a short NICU stay for minor issues, know that it's okay to feel overwhelmed, but focus on those small victories each day. They're strong little fighters. I remember the relief when Poetic Justice Airamoni Jones was born and finally cleared to come home after that brief period. Having a 'chunky baby' brings its own set of joys and laughs. From the adorable rolls to the way they fill out their newborn outfits almost instantly, it's truly special. But it also meant I had to adjust my expectations for things like feeding – my little guy had a hearty appetite from day one! My advice to anyone expecting a larger baby is to trust your instincts, prepare for flexibility in your birth plan, and embrace every moment. It's an incredible journey, and at the end of it, you get to meet your perfect, precious baby, no matter their size or how they arrive. Every path to parenthood is unique and beautiful. And those moments of holding your 10lbs baby for the first time? Absolutely unforgettable.
