There is always a seat at the table 🤍

“He told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they would choose the best places for themselves: “When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, don’t sit in the place of honor, because a more distinguished person than you may have been invited by your host. The one who invited both of you may come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this man,’ and then in humiliation, you will proceed to take the lowest place. “But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ You will then be honored in the presence of all the other guests. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” He also said to the one who had invited him, “When you give a lunch or a dinner, don’t invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors, because they might invite you back, and you would be repaid. On the contrary, when you host a banquet, invite those who are poor, maimed, lame, or blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭14‬:‭7‬-‭14‬ ‭

... Read moreIn today's society, the concept of inviting everyone to the table remains crucial. It challenges us to rethink our social gatherings and the people we choose to include. The parable reminds us that honor comes not from seeking status but from demonstrating humility and compassion. When we consider the marginalized—those who may not traditionally fit in or receive invitations—our gatherings can transform into opportunities for healing and inclusivity. Hosting meals for the less fortunate or inviting those who might otherwise feel isolated enriches our lives and communities. Furthermore, this principle aligns with the teachings of various spiritual leaders who emphasize the importance of humility. By treating every individual with dignity, we foster an environment that promotes understanding and love. Incorporating this mindset into our daily lives can profoundly affect our interactions, encouraging a sense of belonging for everyone involved. As we reflect on this, let's strive to build communities where the value of each person is recognized, ensuring there's always a seat for everyone at the table.

Stop Letting Anyone Sit at Your Table
There was a time I used to feel bad for pulling away. I thought distance meant I was being rude or acting funny. But the truth is I wasn’t protecting my peace. I was sitting at tables I didn’t belong at, having conversations that left my spirit tense, and entertaining people who didn’t value me.
