2025 Releases I’ll Be Checking Out From My Library
I’m usually not a fan of having a big TBR list that I have to stick to, but there are so many new books that I want to read that I’ve ended up doing exactly that 😂
I started this process in May when the oldest books on the New Shelf at the library were released in December. I only have one more January book (Boudicca) before I’ll be moving on to the February books! The last two in this list are actually March releases. It’ll be a long process until I’m all caught up, but it’s a fun way to challenge myself and to take out the stress of decision making. At the same time, I’m not too strict about following this list, especially because these aren’t books that I’ve bought and have to read to make the purchase worth it. These are library books that will still be there if I don’t read them now and could pick up again at any time I want to.
The one on this list that I’m looking the most forward to is Wings of Starlight, which I posted about before as one of the books I was excited to read in 2025.
I wasn’t originally planning on reading Deep End by Ali Hazelwood because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Not In Love and what I’ve heard about this book didn’t sound the most appealing to me, but I really like some of Ali Hazelwood’s other books so I’m still going to give Deep End a chance.

Don't forget to explore books that challenge you, perhaps a thriller or horror novel like 'Hungerstone,' knowing you don't have to keep it if it's not your cup of tea. Another fantastic aspect of library reading is the freedom it gives your TBR (To Be Read) list. Unlike books you've purchased, there's no pressure to finish a library book if it's not grabbing you. You can simply return it and pick up something new, guilt-free. This flexibility has allowed me to experiment with genres I wouldn't normally consider, and explore specific historical periods without a big financial investment. It's a fantastic way to broaden your reading horizons and discover what truly resonates with you. Plus, libraries are amazing for supporting local communities and promoting literacy – it's a win-win! Don't forget about the digital resources either! Apps like Libby or Hoopla, linked through your library card, provide free access to thousands of ebooks and audiobooks. This means you can have your entire next read delivered straight to your device, anywhere, anytime. It’s perfect for travel or when you just can't make it to the physical branch. I often have multiple books on hold through Libby, making sure I always have something exciting to read. This also includes lesser-known titles or even older works that might be harder to find elsewhere. So, if you haven't visited your local library lately, I highly recommend it! It's not just a place for old books; it's a vibrant community hub packed with resources, new releases, and endless reading possibilities.
