Weekly Reading Wrap-Up 🦌❄️

Wow I read a lot this week! I didn’t think I’d have much time to read because my classes started but I was wrong about that!

Bury Our Bones was supposed to last me until the end of the month, but I sat down on Sunday and read more than half of the book 🫣

I was listening to the House of Fortune for most of the week and finished it on Friday. It is the sequel to The Miniaturist, which I read for a book club in January, so I’m glad to have finished that series.

I read one ARC this week: Rolls and Rivalry. I posted a review of it already but I loved it so much! I’m not sure if it’s just because I keep really liking the ebooks I’m reading on my kindle, but I seem to read things on my kindle really quickly.

I started reading the Mark of Athena this week, which is on my February TBR, but there’s nothing wrong with getting a head start on that! I decided to read it because my TBR jar prompt this month was to read something over 500 pages. It is also the next book in the Heroes of Olympus series, which I hope to finish soon.

I started reading one of my textbooks for class, the Organization of Information. I paid so much money for it so I’m going to read it cover to cover and if I’m reading the whole thing it’s counting towards my reading goals!

I also read volume 8 of the Fragrant Flowr Blooms with Dignity, which I really enjoyed! I only can get the first 9 volumes on Libby which means that I won’t be able to read the next ones any time soon 🥲

And the most recent book I started is Wordslut, which I’ve been meaning to read for so long and I wish I read it sooner! I read half of it in one day because it is so interesting.

What have you been reading this week?

... Read moreThis week’s reading journey was quite diverse and engaging, blending exciting fiction with academic material in a way that really kept me motivated. I found myself pleasantly surprised by how much time I could carve out for reading, even with a busy class schedule. One highlight was diving deep into 'Bury Our Bones' by V. E. Schwab. I initially thought it would last me the month, but the engrossing storytelling made me race through over 300 pages in a single day — a true testament to the power of immersive narratives. Audio books also played a big role in my week, especially 'The House of Fortune,' a captivating sequel to 'The Miniaturist.' Listening to it helped me multitask while still staying connected to great stories. This mix of physical, digital, and audio reading keeps things fresh and lets me adapt to whatever my day demands. I also tackled an ARC called 'Rolls and Rivalry' by Kristy Boyce, and the experience was fantastic. I love how ebooks on my Kindle seem to encourage me to read at an even quicker pace; there's something about the format that just feels seamless for me. Starting 'The Mark of Athena' early was a strategic choice driven by my reading goals. With its hefty length over 500 pages, it’s perfect for meeting my TBR jar prompt and helps me progress in the Heroes of Olympus series. Balancing pleasure reading with academic work also means I’m giving full attention to my textbook — 'Organization of Information' — which feels satisfying considering the investment in it and the relevance to my studies. On a lighter note, I enjoyed volume 8 of the manga series 'Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity.' Though limited access on Libby means I have to wait for the rest, it’s a joyful break from heavier reads. Finally, diving into 'Wordslut' by Amanda Montell has been a game-changer. It’s a fascinating feminist guide to language that I wish I’d started earlier. The way it unpacks language use and reclamation keeps me hooked, motivating me to read large chunks in one day. Overall, this week reaffirms how mixing genres and formats can enhance enjoyment and productivity in reading. I encourage anyone struggling to find time for books to experiment with audio and digital formats or set small goals like TBR prompts to keep momentum. What’s been capturing your attention lately?
