My Inheritance Games Opinions!

2024/8/7 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, fellow bookworms, let's dive deep into The Inheritance Games series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes! I've seen so many discussions, and I just had to share my own popular and unpopular opinions after finishing *The Inheritance Games*, *The Hawthorne Legacy*, and *The Final Gambit*. Fair warning: SPOILERS AHEAD for all three books! You've been warned! First off, the biggest debate: Team Jameson or Team Grayson? Oh, the dilemma Avery Grambs faced! Personally, I was totally rooting for Jameson from the start. His intensity, his passion for the game, and that undeniable chemistry with Avery just had me hooked. I know Grayson has his loyal fans – and I get it, he's brooding, protective, and incredibly smart – but for me, Jameson felt like the true chaotic match for Avery's newfound life. It felt like he truly saw her, the girl who was thrown into this wild scavenger hunt, not just the heiress. What do you think? Was Jameson really the right choice for Avery, or did you secretly wish she'd picked Grayson? Then there's Avery herself. One of the opinions I strongly stand by, and I think many agree, is that Avery was right to give the money to charity! It was such a powerful moment that solidified her character. It showed she wasn't just in it for the wealth; she truly wanted to make a difference and honor Tobias Hawthorne's legacy in her own way. It felt like a genuine act of defiance against the materialism that often comes with such an inheritance, and it made me admire her even more. Let's talk about some of the other fantastic characters. I've seen a lot of people say Eve is the worst! And honestly, I can't fully disagree. While she had her moments of loyalty, her constant drama, and sometimes selfish actions really grated on me. She put Avery in some sticky situations, and it often felt like she was more of a hindrance than a help. Did anyone else feel that way, or am I being too harsh on her? And we can't forget the other Hawthorne brothers! I loved seeing more of Xander Hawthorne. He's such a brilliant, quirky character, always bringing a bit of lightheartedness and genius to the intense situations. His inventions and unique way of looking at puzzles were always a highlight. And speaking of Xander, many of you asked about Max and Xander Inheritance Games – their dynamic was truly heartwarming. Max felt like the grounding force, providing emotional support and a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos. I thought their friendship was a really important part of the series. Even Toby Hawthorne played a pivotal, albeit controversial, role in unraveling the family's secrets, adding another layer of complexity to the mystery. Finally, we have to address the Jennifer Lynn Barnes love triangle controversy. It's a common trope in YA, and while I generally enjoy a good love triangle, I felt this one was handled pretty well. It wasn't just superficial; it was deeply intertwined with Avery's journey of self-discovery and understanding her place within the Hawthorne family. Both brothers offered something different, and the tension was palpable without completely overshadowing the mystery element. I think Jennifer Lynn Barnes crafted a compelling romance that added to the stakes rather than detracting from the intricate puzzles. Overall, The Inheritance Games series was an incredible ride filled with twists, turns, and characters you can't help but get invested in. What were your most popular or unpopular opinions on the series? I'd love to hear them!
