The work

I’m staring up a craft party company. It’s like the painting party’s but with a craft. I stoped by at coffee shop/ specialty store to make my keychain felted mushrooms and had a cup wonderful cup of coffee called “ the crazy cat lady”. the shop already had a lady that hosted felting classes but I left a mushroom and my card and let them know I do other crafts too.

I had 4 breweries I stop at that day. I booked a craft party at the last one I stopped at. It was a great day.

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen my exciting first day kicking off my craft party business, 'Crafty Village,' and maybe you're wondering how to even get started on a journey like that! It’s definitely a lot of work, but so rewarding. Here's a little rundown of what I've been learning and some tips if you're dreaming of running your own creative events. First off, define your craft and your niche. For me, I absolutely love working with wool roving and creating adorable felted mushroom keychains. This specific craft really caught people's eye! Think about what craft you're passionate about teaching. Is it painting, pottery, jewelry making, or something else entirely? Knowing your specialty helps you stand out. Are you targeting bachelorette parties, team-building events, or just fun nights out? Next, plan your business essentials. This might sound boring, but it's super important! You'll want to think about things like business registration – what does your local area require? And don't forget insurance! Nobody wants unexpected accidents, especially when craft supplies like felting needles are involved. Also, start thinking about your brand name and logo. 'Crafty Village' felt right for me because it evokes that community vibe. Sourcing supplies is key. Once you know your craft, you'll need to figure out where to get your materials at a good price. For my felted mushroom keychains, I need quality wool roving in various colors, felting needles, and key rings. Buying in bulk can save you money in the long run. I often prep little kits beforehand, so everything is ready to go for the party. Now for the fun part: marketing and finding venues! As you read in my post, I visited coffee shops and breweries. These are fantastic places because they already have foot traffic and often look for unique events to host. Don't be afraid to walk in, introduce yourself, and leave a card or a sample of your work, like my packaged felted mushroom keychains. Social media is also your best friend! Share photos of your beautiful creations and behind-the-scenes glimpses of your setup. Show potential clients what they can expect. Creating compelling packages and pricing is another big step. How much will you charge per person? What's included? Will you offer different tiers? Maybe a basic package includes all materials, and a premium package adds a drink or a special take-home gift. Be transparent with your pricing. Finally, be prepared for the actual event. Make sure you have all your tools laid out, clear instructions ready, and a friendly, encouraging demeanor. The goal is for everyone to have a blast and leave with something they're proud of, whether it's a perfectly felted mushroom or a slightly lopsided but much-loved creation! Every event is a chance to learn and grow, and seeing people enjoy themselves makes all the 'work' worth it. It’s truly about building a creative community, one craft party at a time!
