I Found Brand-New Art at the Thrift Store For $25
How gorgeous is this wall art! I found it on a casual thrifting day, still in its original packaging, for just $25. Of course, I had to take it home. I had no idea where I was going to hang it hahaha, but I found the perfect spot, and it looks amazing in the living room.
It’s from the Studio McGee collection at Target, but sadly, they don’t sell it anymore. I think the original price was around $80. It’s just a printed canvas with some real paint strokes, but I love it!

Finding that Studio McGee wall art still in its packaging for just $25 (when it was originally $85!) was such a rush! It really got me thinking about how much incredible value is hidden in thrift and consignment stores. If you're anything like me, you love the idea of unique home decor that doesn't break the bank, and thrifting offers exactly that. It's not just about saving money; it's about giving pieces a second life and finding items with character that you won't see in every big box store. So, how do you find your own hidden gems, especially when it comes to wall art? My first tip is to keep an open mind. Don't go in with a super specific list. Instead, look for potential. That stunning "Wall Art" I found wasn't something I went looking for, but its quality and brand stood out. Check for solid frames – sometimes a great frame can turn even a mediocre print into something special. I always examine the back too; sometimes you can find signatures or labels that indicate a piece's origin or value. Another key is patience and persistence. Thrifting is a treasure hunt, and not every trip will yield a masterpiece. But those moments when you stumble upon something truly special, like a brand-new item or a vintage piece perfectly suited for your home, make it all worthwhile. I find visiting different types of thrift & consignment stores helps too. Larger chain stores might have more inventory, but smaller, independent shops often have more curated, unique selections. Don't forget to check out estate sales or even online thrift art platforms for different vibes. Once you've found your thrift store artwork, the fun part is integrating it into your existing decor. This is where the 'modern mix' aesthetic really shines. Don't feel like everything has to be vintage or new. Combining different styles and eras creates a much richer, more personal look. For example, a classic landscape painting can look incredibly chic next to a contemporary minimalist piece. Or, if you're into a 'thrift aesthetic wallpaper' look, you can create a gallery wall with various thrifted frames and prints, mixing sizes, textures, and subjects. The key is balance and choosing pieces that resonate with *you*. I've started keeping a 'photo gallery of thrift finds' on my phone, not just for showing off, but to inspire my next hunt and remember what unique pieces I've discovered. It's a great way to see how your collection grows and evolves. The feeling of bringing home a piece of art that cost me just $25 but looks like a million bucks (or at least its original $85 price tag!) is truly unmatched. Happy thrifting, fellow decor enthusiasts!
