Book review
Crescent city 10/10. It’s such a good read❤️
Okay, so if you've seen my earlier post, you know I gave Crescent City a perfect 10/10, and I just had to come back and talk more about why this book deserves all the hype! When I first picked up 'House of Earth and Blood,' the first book in the Crescent City series, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but wow, it completely blew me away. For anyone asking, 'what is Crescent City about?' – imagine a sprawling, vibrant urban fantasy world called Lunathion, brimming with angels, fae, demons, vampires, and humans, all living (or trying to live) under the oppressive rule of the Archangels. Our main character, Bryce Quinlan, seems like your typical party girl on the surface, but she's got a hidden depth and a tragic past that quickly pulls you in. The story kicks off with a brutal murder that hits close to home for Bryce, forcing her to team up with a famously dangerous Fae angel assassin, Hunt Athalar. Together, they embark on a thrilling, dangerous investigation to uncover the truth behind the killings, which quickly spirals into something much bigger and more ancient than they could have imagined. It's a fantastic blend of mystery, action, and incredibly rich world-building. And for those wondering, 'is Crescent City spicy?' – the answer is a resounding YES! Sarah J. Maas is known for her romantic fantasy, and this series definitely delivers on the adult romance front. There are passionate encounters, intense chemistry, and steamy scenes that are integral to the character development and plot. So, if you enjoy your fantasy with a healthy dose of romance and mature themes, you're in for a treat. It's not just thrown in for shock value; it genuinely adds to the emotional depth and connection between the characters. What makes this book a must-read for me is how Maas weaves together such an intricate plot with deeply flawed yet utterly lovable characters. The world-building is phenomenal – Lunathion feels alive, with its districts, creatures, and political intrigue. Bryce's journey of self-discovery, resilience, and finding her own power is incredibly inspiring. And the twists! Just when you think you've figured things out, Maas throws another curveball that leaves you gasping. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, filled with moments that will make you laugh, cry, and cheer. Seriously, if you're looking for an immersive fantasy read that will keep you up all night, pick up Crescent City. It's more than just a book; it's an experience!
