dumb logic (💀)
these kinds of people are the woooorsttttt >:(

I totally get it! Reading this post hit home so hard. It's incredibly frustrating when you're just trying to live your life authentically, and then you're hit with those infuriatingly simplistic and often hurtful comments. It's the kind of 'dumb logic' that makes you want to pull your hair out. I often hear things like, 'Don't you LGBTs already have rights?' And honestly, it’s such a loaded question. On paper, sure, there have been strides. But rights are more than just laws; they’re about lived experiences, acceptance, and safety in everyday life. Having the 'right' to marry doesn't stop someone from getting fired for being trans, or prevent hateful stares in public, or protect kids from bullying. It completely misses the point of the ongoing struggle for true equity and understanding. It's like saying because you can vote, all your political problems are solved. When someone says this, it feels like they're trying to dismiss decades of activism and the very real challenges many of us still face daily. Then there's the classic, 'You're being overdramatic, it's not that bad.' Oh, if only they knew! It's never 'not that bad' when your identity is constantly questioned or deemed 'political.' These aren't just isolated incidents; they're microaggressions that pile up, eroding your sense of safety and belonging. It takes a real emotional toll. Being told you're 'overdramatic' is just another way to silence your valid feelings and experiences. It implies your pain isn't real or important, and that's genuinely damaging. Sometimes, people even try to justify their dismissiveness by saying, 'It's my choice,' usually referring to their discomfort or outdated beliefs. While everyone has the right to their own opinions, that doesn't grant them the right to invalidate someone else's existence or fundamental human rights. My identity isn't up for debate or a matter of their 'choice' to accept or reject. It just *is*. It's a fundamental part of who I am, not a lifestyle choice that can be conveniently ignored or criticized. So, how do we deal with this constant barrage of 'dumb logic'? Honestly, it varies. Sometimes, I try to educate, patiently explaining the nuances they're missing. Other times, I realize it's not my job to educate someone who isn't willing to listen, and I just disengage for my own peace of mind. Prioritizing your mental and emotional well-being is crucial. It’s okay to set boundaries and protect your energy from people who aren't genuinely open to understanding. What helps me most is finding my community – people who understand, validate, and uplift each other. Whether it's online forums, local groups, or just a few close friends, having a support system is invaluable. Knowing I'm not alone in these frustrations makes a huge difference. Sharing these experiences, like in this post, is so important because it reminds us that our feelings are valid and our struggles are real. Keep venting, keep sharing, and keep advocating for your truth. We're all in this together, pushing back against that frustrating 'dumb logic' one conversation (or vent post!) at a time. Stay strong, and remember your experiences are always valid.
