2025: the year to thrive

Happy 2025! This year will be the year I become the best me. I did this trend last year and it’s so fun reflecting on the pieces that I did change and how I grew. I think it’s amazing to see how much you can change in a year. And all the ways you can show up for yourself 🤍

My favorite way to do this is by creating an 'Ins & Outs' list, a practice that has truly transformed my understanding of what actions genuinely represent growth. It’s not just about grand resolutions, but about making conscious choices that align with the 'better me' I want to embody. For me, growth isn't always about huge life overhauls. Sometimes, it's about cultivating a cozier, more inviting personal space and embracing mindful routines. Making home coffees a daily ritual instead of rushing out, or actively hosting get-togethers with loved ones, fosters connection and a sense of belonging. These seemingly small acts represent growth because they encourage intentional living and building stronger relationships, making my space truly feel like home. I've found that these moments of connection and comfort significantly boost my well-being. Another 'in' for me is diving into creative outlets like junk journaling. It's a fantastic way to practice mindfulness, self-expression, and process thoughts. Similarly, simply taking more time with things, whether it's a project, a meal, or a conversation, has been a game-changer. This intentional slowing down is a powerful action for growth, allowing for deeper engagement and less hurried living. I've also prioritized challenging my mind by keeping up with learning a language, which expands horizons and builds discipline. Equally important is embracing alone time. In a constantly connected world, carving out moments for quiet reflection and self-care is vital for mental and emotional well-being; it’s a powerful way to show up for yourself. Growth also means emotional maturity. Practicing forgiving, both myself and others, releases a huge burden that I didn't even realize I was carrying. And being proactive by setting up plans – whether with friends or for personal projects – represents taking control and actively shaping my life rather than passively waiting for things to happen. To make space for these positive 'ins,' I've identified some 'outs' – habits or mindsets that hinder genuine growth. Overconsumption, whether of material goods or endless media, often distracts from true fulfillment. Letting go of constant accumulation allows me to appreciate what I have and focus on experiences. Even more crucial is tackling negative self-talk. This insidious habit can hold us back immensely. Replacing self-criticism with self-compassion is a profound act of growth that transforms your inner world and builds resilience. Another big 'out' is comparing constantly with others. Social media can fuel this, but growth means focusing on my journey, not someone else's highlight reel. Similarly, dwelling on focusing on what ifs or assuming bad things will happen to me zaps energy and prevents forward movement. Shifting from anxiety to present-moment awareness is a significant step towards a more resilient mindset. Finally, a simple but effective 'out' is limiting being on my phone before bed. This small change dramatically improves sleep quality, which in turn fuels my energy for all the growth actions I want to embrace. Ultimately, growth isn't just about adding new habits; it's also about strategically removing what no longer serves us. By consciously choosing what to bring in and what to leave out, we actively shape our path to becoming our best selves. It’s a journey of reflection, intention, and continuous self-improvement, and I'm excited to see how these 'ins and outs' manifest a thriving 2025.
