Cooking at home again

Hi all!

I’m still cooking my beef cubes😆 Thank you gov for the SG60 vouchers and Fairprice $1 off for the beef cubes!!

My beef cubes have been tasting better - i have finally seasoned them and realised that cooking at high heat helps with the juiciness as well!

I also saw a recipe on tiktok on how to make korean cold noodles (spicy version) and i changed it a little since I don’t have some ingredients!

For the noodles, i think it’s better to buy those buckwheat/korean chewy noodles? But I already had Somen from Daiso so i just cooked it for a while and whack cold water to make it chewier - a little..

The sauce wise, I mixed gochujang paste, dark soya sauce (for sweetness since i don’t have sugar), light soya sauce, sesame oil and a little vinegar (recipe stated rice vinegar but i don’t have it.. used the black one instead) I don’t have any exact measurements because I like to agar agar😅

Then just mix the sauce and noodles together, add some water if too dry:D

I also cut some cucumbers for that extra crunch! Rlly tasty! The recipe also had a boiled egg to pair the dish but I already had beef.. enough protein i guess haha

Do try it! It’s not bad tbh and very easy to make:D

When preparing beef cubes, seasoning them well and cooking at a high heat helps retain juiciness and develop a rich flavor through caramelization. This method locks in the meat’s natural moisture, resulting in tender, succulent bites. Korean cold noodles, a popular dish especially during warmer months, are typically made with chewy buckwheat noodles called naengmyeon. However, alternatives like somen noodles can be adapted with simple tricks such as rinsing in cold water to improve texture. Creating a flavorful sauce using gochujang paste (a spicy Korean chili paste) blended with soy sauce variants, sesame oil, and vinegar is key to achieving the authentic balance of spicy, sweet, and tangy notes. Substitutions like dark soy sauce for sweetness or black vinegar when rice vinegar isn’t available can still yield delicious results. Adding fresh ingredients like sliced cucumbers provides a refreshing crunch that contrasts well with the spiciness of the noodles. Protein options, including boiled eggs or beef cubes, complement the dish well, providing satisfying nutrition. Utilizing local grocery discounts and vouchers can make cooking at home both enjoyable and economical. This simple Korean-inspired cold noodle recipe demonstrates that you don’t need exact ingredients or complex instructions to create delightful meals at home. Exploring and personalizing such dishes promotes culinary creativity and brings new flavors to your dining table with ease.
