Penang Cafe - Utoo Boho Cafe & Patisserie
I recently did a weekend trip to Penang and chanced upon this cafe!
When we arrived, there were only “floor” seats for a table of 4, so we took it to experience what it was like!
The deco was really pretty and the menu was quite extensive i would say - ranging from brunch food to full on pasta
The matcha was alright, although a little small but the marshmallow was a cute addition
Mushroom soup was of standard and garlic bread was real real garlic wow!
I ordered the salmon benedict and changed the bread to sour dough! What caught me by surprise was that the salmon wasn’t smoked but cooked… but it was an interesting twist?
overall the food was not bad, ambience was nice:)
During my visit to Utoo Boho Cafe & Patisserie in Penang, I was charmed not only by the cozy atmosphere but also by some standout menu highlights that truly enriched my dining experience. The cafe's informal floor seating offered a unique, intimate experience that made the visit feel special and relaxed, perfect for hanging out with friends or family. One particularly interesting item was the salmon benedict served on sourdough bread. While I initially expected smoked salmon, the cooked salmon twist added a fresh take on this classic brunch dish. It offered a tender and flavorful bite that paired beautifully with the runny poached eggs and the hollandaise sauce. I found this innovation a delightful surprise and an example of how the cafe blends creativity with tradition. The matcha drink caught my eye with its cute marshmallow topping, adding a playful texture to the smooth, earthy tea flavor. While the portion was a bit small, it was a charming detail that elevated the drink’s appeal. Another memorable treat was their garlic bread. Real garlic was generously used, delivering a pungent, rich flavor that garlic lovers will appreciate. The mushroom soup, while standard, was creamy and comforting – a perfect prelude to the main dishes. Also worth mentioning is their patisserie selection, including tempting items like tiramisu and a durian burnt cheese cake, infused with caramelized pecans and almonds, which I didn't get to try but would be eager to on my next visit. This variety of sweet indulgences reflects the cafe’s commitment to offer more than just savory dishes. Overall, Utoo Boho Cafe & Patisserie combines aesthetic charm with a variety of flavorful dishes, making it a worthwhile stop during a Penang trip. For anyone looking to enjoy good vibes, hearty food, and pretty surroundings, this cafe is definitely a recommendation from my Penang adventures.
