How penpal-ing changed my lifestyle
I have always loved the idea of penpals but i never got a chance to do it since I was always busy with something, or it just dies (happened with my friends, especially after circuit breaker ended)
To me, it was like a phase in life when everyone was so cooped up at home that they decided to start sending each other letters - and i loved it! I connected with many friends and got to update each other about our lives. But once life went back to normal, the letters stopped coming since they are all so busy. I on the other hand yearned to continue it but well life i guess.
Recently i started finding penpals through lemon8 and i found 2 lovely penpals who i get to talk about life and share thoughts about random things! I get so happy to see mail arrive in my letter box and i can’t wait to read and reply them!
I would spend like 1-2 hours just crafting a response and decorating it and it has helped me wind down at night especially when im usually just doomscrolling on tiktok. I look forward to see the responses from my penpals and love sharing my stickers with them haha!
If you are looking for penpals, this is your sign! It is a very good hobby to just slow down and reflect on things:) A nice break from the whole day of working/school!
If you want to be my penpal, i am open to it too:) You can drop me a DM🩷
Penpal-ing has become more than just a nostalgic hobby for me—it’s a meaningful way to reconnect with the world in a mindful, creative manner. In today’s fast-paced life dominated by screens and endless notifications, taking the time to write and decorate letters encourages intentional reflection and self-expression. The process of crafting each response allows me to slow down and channel my thoughts thoughtfully, which has been a welcome counterbalance to the usual doomscrolling on social media. Receiving a letter feels like opening a little gift; it’s tangible proof that someone is thinking of you and values your connection. The anticipation of checking my mailbox daily brings a unique joy that instant digital messages just can’t replicate. I love sharing stickers and little personal touches, which adds warmth and personality to our exchanges. Moreover, having penpals has expanded my perspective as we share life stories, cultural insights, and random musings. It’s a reminder that meaningful communication doesn’t have to be rushed or superficial. Instead, it fosters empathy, patience, and a genuine bond. For anyone overwhelmed by digital overload or seeking a new way to unwind and reflect, I highly recommend giving penpal-ing a try. Whether you find penpals on platforms like Lemon8 or through other communities, this hobby offers a peaceful, creative outlet and a chance to cultivate lasting friendships. It’s truly a lifestyle change that nurtures mental wellbeing and a sense of belonging.
