Should Lemon8 implement verified accounts?
I think the answer is a bit complicated. I like seeing verified accounts on other platforms, because it not only lets me know that they're real people running the accounts, but also lets me know who/what is popular on said platform! I think that verification has its uses but I don't think I want to see that on Lemon8.
Right now, it feels less like a traditional social media app, and more like one big massive group chat with everyone sharing their own ideas, lives and etc! I think verification will give a social hierarchy like other apps, and I would much rather keep the group chat vibes..
What do you think?

Building out my Lemon8 profile has been such a fun journey! When I first joined, one of my main questions was, 'is Lemon8 legit?' It felt so fresh and different from other platforms. What I've found is that the legitimacy here often comes from the community itself, and how authentically people share their lives and content. Unlike platforms where a blue verified checkmark immediately signals a public figure or brand, Lemon8 profiles thrive on genuine user-generated content (UGC). When I explore someone's profile, I'm looking at their unique aesthetic, the stories they share, and the engagement they have. It’s less about official status and more about relatability. I've seen so many incredible creators build a loyal following just by being themselves and consistently posting valuable or inspiring content. For example, when I check out a new profile, I usually scroll through their feed, look at their likes and saves, and see who they're following and who follows them. It gives me a sense of their interests and whether they're an active, engaged member of the community. In a way, these metrics – how many followers someone has, the number of likes and saves on their posts – become our informal 'verification' of their presence and impact within the Lemon8 ecosystem. It’s not about proving identity to the platform, but proving authenticity to other users through consistent, quality interactions. The unique aspect of Lemon8 is that every user's journey, from their initial posts to accumulating more likes and saves, contributes to their overall profile's perceived authenticity. The current 'group chat' vibe of Lemon8 means there’s a lot of direct interaction and support. If someone is consistently sharing great tips for home decor, or their honest reviews of beauty products, their profile naturally gains trust. We rely on each other's experiences and recommendations, which strengthens the sense of community. This organic trust feels more genuine than a system based solely on official verification. It's about the shared experience and the mutual exchange of ideas, where every piece of UGC contributes to a collective sense of reliability. If Lemon8 were to implement verified accounts, it would definitely change the dynamic. While it might offer a quick answer to 'is Lemon8 legit?' for some newcomers, it could also introduce a new layer of hierarchy. Would a regular user's UGC suddenly feel less important compared to someone with a blue checkmark? I hope not. The beauty of Lemon8, for me, is that everyone's voice feels equally valued, and anyone can grow their profile and influence based on the quality of their content, not just their public status outside the app. It's about building a genuine following and creating real connections, one post at a time. Maintaining a vibrant and authentic Lemon8 profile means consistently contributing to this unique environment, making it feel truly legitimate and special to me.
