Five years have passed since my loved one has been gone, and every day still feels like a mix of sadness and reverence. It's not easy to live without someone so special who shaped the person I am today. Over time, I found ways to honor their memory without feeling overwhelmed by grief — I stopped 'taxing' myself emotionally, if that makes sense, allowing my heart to heal gradually. One way I cope is by keeping their story alive for my children, so they can understand the tremendous hero they had in their family history. Sharing stories brings a sense of closeness and continuity, bridging past and future. It reminds me that even though they are no longer physically here, their courage and values live on through us. Remembering someone after several years inevitably stirs both smiles and tears, but what sustains me is the hope that their legacy will inspire those I love. Every small anniversary or quiet moment becomes a chance to reflect on what they meant and how they influenced my life in deep, lasting ways. It’s a journey of learning to live with loss while celebrating an unforgettable presence that shaped my world.
