And there’s no doubt that when it comes to dressing like the old money, it’s all about the subtleness! Personally, dressing like old money is all about nurturing the elegance, taste, and femininity in the lifetime! In a world full of trends, old money remains classic! Now how to dress up like old money? Read the 4 tips below!
1st Tips - One colour outfit
Old money is all about looking classy and timeless! What other ways to achieve this other than a simple monochrome colour! Because when you wear a one colour outfit, you’ll look more sophisticated and put together! Let’s be honest, it’s easier to achieve that classy look by wearing one colour outfit, for example, an all black outfit or a brown monochrome outfit! So remember to wear one colour outfit, where you don’t look too much nor inelegant!
2nd Tips - Polo shirt
If you’ve been watching old money videos on Tiktok or have been doing research on the old money outfit, you’ll realise that most of them wear a classic polo shirt! Brands like Ralph Lauren are one of the classic old money brands that are famous for their polo shirts and sweaters! The brand is mostly worn by old money people which is why it’s a classic brand! As for the colour, go for a neutral colour to look timeless and stylish!
3rd Tips - No logo
You wanna make sure to avoid wearing logo clothing! Brand logos suggest that you have a need to impress others, however clothing without brand logos suggests confidence and security with who you are! Because that’s what old money is about! You don’t wanna look too flashy which is why it’s better to wear no logo clothing for that old money look!
4th Tips - Versatile heels
Shoes are another area that will be worth the splurge! Invest in a versatile heel, something appropriate for all occasions! Black, clear, leather, medium heel, pointed heels have been the most widely used in my experience! They can be worn with everything from a little black dress, to an interview or simply out to lunch! I suggest sticking with neutral color so you’ll look timeless and sophisticated to match it with any outfit!
Sejujurnya, masa mula-mula aku obses dengan gaya old money wanita, aku pun blur nak start dari mana. Bila tengok Pinterest dan TikTok, semua nampak mahal gila. Tapi sebenarnya, baju old money ni boleh je kita create dengan apa yang dah ada dalam almari, asalkan tahu trick asas. Untuk baju old money wanita, aku selalu pilih warna neutral dulu: putih, hitam, beige, coklat dan navy. Warna-warna ni buat pakaian old money nampak lebih kemas dan senang mix & match. Kalau kau ada dress polos warna hitam atau putih, itu dah basic old money style wanita. Tambah je blazer potongan ringkas dan kasut tumit sederhana, terus nampak macam pergi high tea dekat hotel. Ramai juga suka buat tema pakaian old money untuk dinner, birthday atau photoshoot. Kalau tema old money perempuan, cuba pakai midi skirt atau seluar slack high waist, tuck in baju kemeja atau baju polo. Elakkan jeans yang terlalu koyak atau ketat. Pasal warna hijau old money, aku pernah try outfit hijau gelap (forest green) dengan beg coklat dan loafers. Serius nampak classy! Untuk baju old money yang ada elemen polo old money, aku suka pilih polo yang material knit atau cotton tebal sedikit, bukan yang terlalu nipis. Polo warna navy, putih atau beige senang sangat digayakan. Pair dengan skirt A-line atau seluar kain, jangan lupa aksesori minimal macam jam tangan kulit dan rantai halus. Satu lagi benda penting dalam gaya old money: old money logo… sebenarnya konsep dia more to "no logo" atau logo sangat kecil. Aku sendiri dah kurangkan beli baju yang ada logo besar sebab bila tengok balik gambar, memang nampak macam terlalu cuba impress orang. Baju plain tanpa logo atau hanya ada detail butang cantik, kolar kemas dan potongan yang elok, jauh lagi nampak mewah. Kalau kau masih baru dengan pakaian tema old money, mula dengan satu outfit: contohnya all black – baju hitam polos, seluar hitam straight, kasut tumit hitam sederhana. Lepas tu slowly tambah item lain macam baju polo, blazer, handbag struktur dan aksesori ringkas. Lama-lama kau akan perasan, gaya old money ni bukan tentang brand pun, tapi cara kita pilih warna, potongan dan keyakinan masa pakai.
