It's so fantastic to find pieces that truly make you feel confident and comfortable, especially when you have an apron belly! Beyond just the amazing Hilary Radley pants and Nautica Jeans cardigan I shared, I've picked up a few more tips over time that have really helped me build a corporate wardrobe that feels cozy and chic. When it comes to pants, I’ve found that the material makes a huge difference. Like the brushed fabric of those Hilary Radley pants, looking for a good stretch with some structure is key. Avoid anything too thin or clingy, as it tends to highlight areas we might prefer to de-emphasize. High-waisted styles are often recommended, but I personally find that sitting too high can sometimes roll down or feel uncomfortable. My sweet spot is usually a mid-to-high rise that sits comfortably at my natural waistline without digging in. Straight-leg or wide-leg cuts are my go-to – they create a balanced silhouette and don't cling to the hips or thighs, which can also draw attention to the midsection. Layering is truly your best friend. That navy blue cable knit cardigan with its subtle gold zipper? It's not just for warmth! An open cardigan or blazer creates fantastic vertical lines, drawing the eye up and down rather than across. This instantly creates a longer, leaner look. I love styling longer cardigans with basic tops underneath. Tunics or flowy blouses are great for providing comfort without adding bulk. For tops, I often opt for darker colors or patterns that distract the eye. And since some of you asked about skirts and dresses for an apron belly – yes, absolutely! Skirts are a wonderful option for work. A-line skirts that flare out gently from the waist are super flattering as they skim over the tummy area. Wrap dresses or empire-waist dresses are also fantastic choices because they draw attention to the smallest part of your torso, usually just under the bust, and then flow beautifully over your belly. Don't be afraid to try midi-lengths as well; they often look very sophisticated in a corporate setting. Ultimately, it's all about finding what makes you feel good. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different brands and cuts. Sometimes, a piece you wouldn't expect, like a cozy Nautica Jeans cardigan or a specific pair of Hilary Radley pants you stumble upon at Costco, can become a wardrobe staple. Look for quality fabrics, comfortable fits, and pieces that allow you to move freely and confidently throughout your workday. Remember, fashion should empower you!
