What is an apron belly? Its when women will store most of they weight in the belly area. Like how some woman hold they weight in the legs, arms, butt, or boobs. My body like to store the extra weight in my belly area. Some calls it a round belly or an apron belly.
👕Sweater: Brand H&M size medium
👕Sweater: Its a chunky crew neck line cropped sweater with a high low spilt. The pattern has Cuffs and Hem: Oversized, wide-ribbed knit trim at the wrists and bottom edge, which helps maintain the sweater's structured shape. Texture: The knit appears to be a medium-to-heavy weight, likely a soft synthetic or wool blend designed for warmth.
This sweater used to be my good to sweater before pregnancy. After pregnancy I don't know how to really where it.

👖: Bootcut mid rise jeans from Old Navy. size 16. It looked cute from the front. On the side I did not like how it looked.
◼️: Black Leggings from Kohls size extra large. I think it was one of my least favorite. It looked too much like a maternity clothing. I like I was trying to show off my non pregnant belly.

... Read moreDealing with an apron belly post-pregnancy can definitely change the way you approach your wardrobe. From my experience, finding clothes that feel comfortable and flattering can be a bit of a journey. For instance, cropped sweaters like the chunky crew neck one described are great for layering but can sometimes draw attention to the belly area if not styled carefully.
Pairing such a sweater with a loose, flowy maternity dress like the long black one from Boohoo can create a cozy, balanced look and minimize focus on the belly. The high-low split and oversized ribbed details of the sweater add structure, which is helpful for shaping the outfit overall.
Bootcut jeans are often a good choice as they balance proportions, but as noted, their fit from the side may reveal areas you’re less comfortable with. I found that mid-rise bootcut jeans work better when paired with longer tops to avoid emphasizing the belly silhouette from a side view.
On the other hand, black leggings can be hit or miss depending on the fabric and fit. Thick, structured leggings may add unwanted bulk, especially if they resemble maternity wear and draw focus to the belly when you want to highlight your shape rather than conceal it. For an apron belly, I usually lean toward high-quality leggings with tummy control panels that smooth without compression.
Ultimately, dressing an apron belly post-pregnancy is about comfort and confidence. While some pieces may end up in the donation bin, experimenting with different layering options and silhouettes can lead to discovering flattering outfits that make you feel good. Cropped sweaters can definitely be apron belly approved if styled with the right complementary pieces, such as long, flowy dresses or structured jeans.
Remember to accessorize and wear your clothes with confidence — that’s the best style tip I’ve learned through my own experience.
