From my experience, the combination of a lightweight anti-humidity hairspray, like the Garnier Fructis Style Flexible Control Aerosol, and protecting your curls while you sleep with a silk bonnet is a game changer. After washing and styling, I apply the hairspray when my hair is about 75% dry. Leaning forward and spraying my curls upside down helps to evenly coat each curl while preserving volume. Scrunching after spraying encourages better curl formation and hold without stiffness. Letting it sit for a minute seals in the shape. The next vital step is nighttime care. Sleeping with a silk bonnet is not only gentle on the hair, but it also prevents friction and moisture loss, which can cause frizz and disrupt curl definition. Whether you wear your hair in a pineapple bun or leave it free inside the bonnet, it helps retain your styling and protects your natural texture. From personal experience, these two simple steps have improved the longevity of my curls significantly, allowing me to enjoy well-maintained 3a curls for days. Investing in silk accessories and a quality hairspray designed to combat humidity makes managing curly hair less stressful and more enjoyable. I highly recommend experimenting with similar products and nighttime protective hairstyles to see what works best for your curl pattern and lifestyle.
